So I'm going to do a bit of speculation here guys and I'm going to use spoiler-marks, do not come crying to me if you highlight the spoiler-text! lol

Utopia: So we know that Dark Beast is building the Omega Machine, a machine that makes mutant powers to go haywire or whatever. There have been some speculations out there in the threads that this machine could be used as a way for the writers to re-power a lot of mutants that have been depowered since M-day.

Now I was thinking; what if this machine was used on Betsy! Could it be that this is the machine that the writers will use to give Betsy her full telepathic might back, just in time for Yosts mini??

When is Yost gonna do an X-Position I have so many question about his Psylocke mini. Like he said she is full blown telepath with slight teke so how is her teke gonna be downplayed. Will she still be able to blast and fly. Or is it gonna be like now she can only use it to augment her fighting prowess, speed, abilities, etc. Can she still create shields. So many question!!

P.S. I had the most awkward dream last night. Matt Fraction was telling me about his plans for Psylocke and the whole thing was she was gonna start learning more about her culture. If she didn't want people to see her as just the English Rose, why did she choose a costume that was pink, frilly, and had ribbons? And why did she wear that Elektra knock-off for so long? I love Betsy but I had a thought about her two iconic costume choices today. The pink costume was something chosen at the Time, for the reasons I think below.

1) Psylocke is a Lady.. Ladies are known more for those frilly things and having a inner forthright manner. They show vulnerability without actually being weak. That's why she was always saying whether things were ladyliek or unladylike to rogue back then. Rogue wanted to be a "Southern Belle" but was more like "Southern Billy". I think Psylocke wanted to teach her younger counterpoint to be one.

2) She was a model, so it wasn't outside her bounds to chose something frilly. She was a tough girl on the inside, and mentally.

3) The Armour was chosen to give her that physical defense, she lacked in close combat. Not every Super heroine needed to be a close combat superstar back then. Psylocke was a pure telepath then, which was okay.

4) The hand outfit after the change was given to give her a sexuality and exotic look, outside ot the normal Psylocke. It worked for awhile , I actually like the outfit back then. Sadly Artists seem loathe to give her a permanent "NEW" costume, primarily because of Marvel high ups it seems. I HARDLY think if Betsy was a real woman, she would choose to keep that outfit.

I thought Raimondi drew a good Cap Britain, James Braddock Sr. holographic entity thing, and a beautiful Meggan--but yeah, Psylocke was a bit below standard when compared to them. Raimondi has improved his style since then so I think he'd do a better job this time if he drew her.

i dont know if u guys already know this but there is a new psylocke. she appeared on episode 8 of Wolverine and the x-men as an asian telepath. not a kunoichi either. she was asian with a british accent and when she used her telepathy her signature butterfly-shaped energy aura appeared around her face. shes gotten an improved look and new costume. shes very elegant and sophisticated. ill post some pics of her. if they dont work let me know. maybe this version will make it to the comics. i hope so. im on my PS3 right now so i cant post the pics, but when i get on my computer that'll be the first thing i do.

So sad, so true. The only story Asian Besty was on that I liked was Psi-War. She was portrayed as a full telepath who also happens to be ninja. She worked a lot in the psi-plane and was very effective. I hope she'll be like that again soon...:rolleyes:

I would love Psylocke in Uncanny and also appearing in X-Force as a regular. I don't like the idea of Claremont towards the end of his Exiles run constantly stating that Psylocke "isn't a killer" or she didn't have it "in her to kill", when all these years even when she was British, the internal monologue and over captionining usually surrounding Psylocke was that she was a very dangerous person and had if need be the will to kill. He would even compare her to Wolverine saying she was possibly more dangerous of a killer than he was.

I could see Psylocke killing if it needed to be done, but not mindlessly.

I see Psylocke being on the same level of Storm as killing. Storm isn't a killer, and she has rarely done it, but it has always been in an appropriate situation or battle. (I should've probably worded that differently, not sure if there is ever an appropriate time to kill someone lol)

I've just finally started embracing my inner "X-Force" lol. Initially, I didn't like the idea of it and the character line-up just sounded like an excuse to get a bunch of ferals on the team, but as the series started and as time went on I realized that the book is actually very well written and the art is superb.

yeah it'll probably be just some lame short summary. except instead of kwannon being back from the dead it will be about the body being stolen again and probably destroyed or some nonsense. i wish psylocke would use her telepathy in battle frequently. i would imagine the writers could be so creative with that so i don't know why they don't do it more often. especially with all the telepaths they could use.

It looks like Raimondi has improved in comparison to then.
Still love his art nonetheless, but I have a feeling he likes to draw his women with shorter length hair.
Though that's an assumption, doesn't look too bad, but it's improved.

Hey guys, I stumbled on this thread a little while ago and have been reading it regularly since then, but never took the time to make a CBR account. But once I saw you all talking about the Harriers issue, one of the first comics I ever owned, I figured I had to go ahead and sign up.

I loved that issue when I got it, but as I read more X-Men issues before and after it, the story made less and less sense. Wolverine gets captured easily in the first half of the story, then Jubilee and Psylocke’s rescue attempt fails as they are both captured instead, all by a team not seen before or since. Worst of all, Psylocke, already one of my favorite characters, and fresh from her establishment of as a martial arts expert, was bested twice, each time by some no-name shield agent (one of which you can see in psycwave’s scans)! Still, because of when I got it, I will always have something of a soft spot for it.

Hey guys, I stumbled on this thread a little while ago and have been reading it regularly since then, but never took the time to make a CBR account. But once I saw you all talking about the Harriers issue, one of the first comics I ever owned, I figured I had to go ahead and sign up.

I loved that issue when I got it, but as I read more X-Men issues before and after it, the story made less and less sense. Wolverine gets captured easily in the first half of the story, then Jubilee and Psylocke’s rescue attempt fails as they are both captured instead, all by a team not seen before or since. Worst of all, Psylocke, already one of my favorite characters, and fresh from her establishment of as a martial arts expert, was bested twice, each time by some no-name shield agent (one of which you can see in psycwave’s scans)! Still, because of when I got it, I will always have something of a soft spot for it.

While I hear whwta you're saying its not completely nonsensical. Betsy was still getting over her brainwashing and was a little iffy on a lot of things. Then like she said she couldn't get a solid lock on the chicks mind and thats why she so easily snuck up on her. Also she was about to bombast that beyotch if the guy hadn't blown up that part of the warehouse they were on. Hardcase and the Harriers seemed pretty equipped though and its a shame we never saw them again.

Though I must ask, as I need to know every Psylocke fans stance, what are your thoughts on the body swap? Mainly which body is your fave?
And what do you think of a Betsy/Elektra team-up/fight?

On the Elektra thing: Elektra has been doing this faarrrr longer than Psylocke has. Retcons included. Before joining the X-men She was a member of the British version of Shield.. Strike.. While at Strike she was given Basic hand to hand training and the Captain Britain suit. This helped enhance her physical abilities.
Elektra has been a trained Assassin for decades hence.
As an X-men Psylocke (pre body swap), was only in one actual Physical fight.. where she threw a single (on panel) punch at Jean Grey.. no outcome was shown. All her other fights were at range or through Illusions.
After the Swap she got the training and some of the Skill but not the muscle memory to be able to use it at Elektras levels. Even Now I'd say a depowered Psylocke would lose to Elektra. Powered Psylocke would win easily.


On Issue 512.. As a History buff it would be safe to say that during those times Asians or even Eurasians were more easily mixed into the World than Other ethnicities. She would have been taken for a Chinese woman of mixed heritage, or an adopted daughter. So her clothing would fit the area. Especially in San Francisco.

I think even powered Psylocke would lose. Even though Betsy is supposed to be this master martial artist her fighting skills have never really been defined. Sure she had some basic training from STRIKE, and she had the months worth of physical and telepathic training from the HAND, training from Ogun, possibly some extra skills from the X-men and Wolvie, and her power levels are crazy powerful, Elektra has some tricks of her own. Plus her whole "not feeling pain", her pseduo tp abilities, and her lifetime worth of skils is one of the reasons she s one of the deadliest women around.

Betsy might be a master of several forms of martial arts but I want to know what they are. I assume one if Ninjitsu of course, but for a woman trained in so much she hardly ever uses them. I would like to see a fight where Betsy shows a variety of moves helping to expand the belief of these numerous skills. Even show her doing some hardcore training to get herself back to tip top fighting shape.

And if Besy could actually think in her fights like she did during her days as Lady Mandarin and early body swap days, I might actually be inclined to believe she could beat Elektra, powered or not. Now I think she would just give her some go.

Jubilee was so cute in those scans. I never liked Kitty and Pixie is a joke, but I miss Jubilee being the only kid around. All the New X-men should die and she should return and have her powers back.

I don't know if you've read New Exiles, but Psylocke pretty much spent the whole run training with Sabretooth after she was almost killed by the Hydra team. Then she spent a lifetime of training with an alternate Ogun and she got a chance to show her stuff against Ogun, Lady Mandarin, and Slaymaster (before Sword of the Braddocks). Tim Seeley gave her some nice hand to hand scenes.

how i loved seeing psylocke completely mind assault one of the worlds most powerful telepaths with such ease.:biggrin: anyways in another thread i was debating with some posters about psylocke and sabertooth. many seem to believe that sabertooth RAPED psylocke in her last battle with him in which she died and was revived by the crimson dawn. what are your thoughts on this? was psylocke one of the many women that felt the feral sting of sabertooths man hood?

While I haven't actually read that issue, I like to think that she wasn't, because if she was that makes the relationship that she had with AOA Sabretooth even more disturbing.

Y'all know I love Emma too, but she also stole the hair grabbing techniques that Psylocke used to do in the 90s before she stabbed them. I always thought it was hilarious when she'd just yank a bitch and stab them. I love that X-men #2 cover where she's yanking Jean's hair back and about to knife her lol.

It's real. It's a form of Chinese martial arts. It's a technique where you maintain physical contact with your opponent--like having your forearms touch for example. Practicing it helps you develop automatic reflexes. You stick to your opponent so you can sense changes in a person's body to counteract their movements faster. It's good for Psylocke to know this technique because it kinda replaces her telepathic ability to sense an opponent's thoughts before they act.

As far as I'm concerned, Psylocke just trained her ass off and fought valiantly. Had a stint as Lady Mandarin again (yay!), killed Slaymaster--then got brought back to 616. Creed can be forgotten about.

Please, please, please don't let Mr Fraction or Mr Yost have forgotten that Betsy is Ogun/AoA Sabertooth trained now!

I'm glad Psylocke was mentioned! Too bad she won't have a role in the Necrosha storyline.

Fraction said that originally they had a huge cast (which they did, but only used a handful of characters) and that they would slowly, slow down and focus more on characters. So I'm assuming they will get a normal set cast again THANK God! Hopefully Psylocke is one of those lucky X-Men!

I love the way Dodson draws caucasian characters. British Betsy was very pretty on the cover and I loved when Emma Frost had her little jazzy 'do in that one issue where she was in Scott's mind. But I HATE when he draws Asian characters. It's like he wants to emphasize how small their eyes are in comparison to his white characters. So I'm not too excited but at least her new outfit looks promising.

I was watching G4 and they had the Marvel set up at Comic Con had a huge sign and Psylocke's face was almost front and center. It was the drawing that's on the anniversary frame. I like that artist a lot better.
