About Betsy love life. I'm a big Betsy-Warren fan. But I don't want them to be reunited too soon. Not without any character development for Betsy first.
Throw in Betsy-Doug-Kurt situation first (without any sex involved) while Warren still dating the Mayor (and possibly some other women) before they realize that they belong together.. :)

I love Dazzler and Psylocke standing next to each other frequently, it lets my mind wander and pretend they are talking loads of shit about everyone else off panel.

I don't like Kurt/Betsy or Beast/Betsy. I'm anti-blue men. But then again I'd like a pairing with the unpopular Cyclops just because I know it'd push her in the A-list, and he's a hottie.

I agree. Betsy just didn't have a lot of experience and had no fine motor control. I don't think that Marvel even really considers the TK to have come from Jean anymore. The power switch story was scrapped at the last minute and we got a story about a blind psychic girl instead in the Uncanny 2000 Annual.

Then when Betsy dies, Jean gets her TK back (but it's said to be a secondary mutation). Then when Betsy comes back she has TK and it's even stronger than before because of Jamie's manipulations.

Looking at Betsy's powers all the way from the Captain Britain series to now, I think it's best that she just kept both. Her TK levels don't have to be super powerful, but as a pure telepath she still manifested telekinetic manifestations (physical force projection from the psycho blasts or blocking real objects with the telepathic sword after Revanche died) and telepathic manifestations while supposedly a pure telekine (clairvoyance with Brian, precog visions in SotB, breaking mind control and affecting the nervous system with the TK sword just like the psychic knife used to, etc.)

At least with both her powers won't be changed again. Yes I'm being optimistic.

Man, all these scans make me miss old!Betsy even more. Before her there weren't really any pure telepaths who were out there fighting the enemy. Jean always had her telekinesis, and people like Emma and Professor X weren't really out in the open kicking ass.

I think what's more recognizable about her is her purple hair, the hand outfit (which isn't always what she's wearing asian or not) and of course the psychic knife.

So I don't see why they couldn't revert her to British and keep the psyknife. She'd still be known and recognized.

That's what I've been thinking, but according to Matt Fraction the team was too white and he wanted to have racial diversity. Basically Marvel thinks the sexy ninja sells. And also they believe all of the relevance of the character came when she was Asian. I think it's just because she's been given more opportunity in that body because she's been in it so long.

I think if Psylocke is written smarter in battle even in her Asian body she could become popular again and more respected. I'd like to see her not rely on her psychic knife as much and see her more cunning in battle. Maybe screw with their heads and THEN kick their ass physically.

I would actually think it'd be cool if she was pregnant. It'd be a good opportunity for at least something new to happen instead of the same few storylines constantly going around and around in the same circle. Although they'd never give her the second mutant birth since she's not A-list like Emma or Pixie. Fraction's plan just seems like Crimson Dawn part two. Shadowy Asian ninja lurking in the background with no visible personality and being untrustworthy. He doesn't even characterize her tone to be British or intelligent. I barely got the snoozefest UXM512 yesterday in the mail and she says something like "Hi. We're here to beat you". Her dialog is interchangeable with any teen girl from the New X-men. As much crap as CC gets (sometimes deserved) he always characterized Betsy as a strong woman with swift wit and beautiful inside and out. I feel like Marvel wants us to forget she's even British at all on the inside, which is why it'd make more sense for Kwannon to be inside the Asian body since it's more suited for the ninja origins story. I think this current Psylocke is going to be deadly and cold.

I imagine the future plots will look like this except with worse art and no Jean.

Yeah it sucks he hated her because Joe Mad is my favorite Uncanny artist. It's when I started reading so it holds a place in my heart. I loved how hot everyone was haha. The team roster was great at the time too. And one of my favorite issues was Uncanny 337. It was basically just the X-men eating breakfast. But there were characters I actually cared about, art I actually liked, and everyone had a distinct look and personality.

I honestly didn't interpret any of that as a romantic relationship. I think Doug did want a romantic relationship with Betsy, but I don't think Psylocke liked him the same way back. I think she did CARE for him and deeply, but it was more of a loving thing. He did help save her life after all.

But who could blame him since she basically wore the same thing (which is pretty plain) for so many years. He should've jazzed the bathing suit up a bit. Add some type of pattern or shine to it.

Reading those scans makes me really miss the X-Men being an actual family.... Everyone had their own personality, everyone was different and interesting... and they were all so close. It's a real shame that we don't get that feel anymore in the x-books..... what I would give to read an issue where the X-Men play a couple rounds of jenga.

You know what Issue of Uncanny was Great. #249. When the X-men go up against the mutates. They take out the grunts, then are taken down by the main group or powered mutates.

This is where Psylocke showed what type of leader she would be.
Amphibious tackles her and hangs her from a mast. Waking up she sees the X-men in danger. Then she smiles. (Loved that Part)

She coordinates with dazzler and colossus to each take out their foes, And she assists dazzler in taking down Amphibious. LOVED it. Wish she would have gotten more leader time.

I agree that most of the time, he characterized Betsy as a strong woman that had a beautiful personality to go with her looks. She even started showing more intelligence during the New Exiles run, using air currents to track teammates or noticing that one of the alt Earth's they were on had a different crust formation than Earth 616's.

He completely failed on trying to hook her up with AoA Sabretooth though. I liked their introduction fight scene though. Land could've taken a few pointers from this or something.

And I'm sorry, but when the man wasn't rushed he could draw the hell out of an x-book--I don't care what anyone says. His art was perfect for the Crimson Dawn mini's covers even though the story was a little meh.

So I had a dream the other night where, no joke, I was a sort of ghost-like figure observing a team of X-Men. The team had Rogue, Psylocke, de-powered Jubilee, Gambit, Iceman, Wolverine, and Prodigy and they were fighting in some kind of sewer. And Gambit lost his shirt.

But for some reason their costumes were a little different, and Betsy's involved like a short, cropped hoodie. Someone should draw this! I would, but I'm terrible at art.

All of this talk about the X-women modeling and people posting artwork between this thread and the modeling thread has inspired me to offer a small contribution.

For a while, I've been wanting to come up with a variant costume of Psylocke's New Exiles costume. Scott Clark's Psylocke is a top favorite and I thought I'd use that photo to experiment with. I increased the length of Betsy's sleeve, slightly increased the height of her "bra" so that it covers more of her breasts, and I decided to turn her midrift two-piece into a one piece costume with various little designs.

Hehe, that looks really cute! I attempted to change the color of Betsy's hair in my pic, but couldn't really figure out how to do it without it looking really fake. You did a really good job making it believable. I admit that the fuller Land hair looked great on her. I don't like it on Emma though. Sometimes it looks ok and sometimes it looks a mess.

Beckinsale is gorgeous, but that Rachel Weisz Vogue cover was just... so much more British Betsy than Kate could ever be. I think it's because she looks so much like the Betsy from those magazine covers Alan Davis' drew in Excalibur: the Sword is Drawn.

If no one has done it by tomorrow, I'll do it when I'm at work. xD It's really easy to do, anyone with Photoshop can do it once they figure out the basic tricks. Duplicate the part of the picture you want to recolour, use the hue/saturation/brightness tool (control+u), set it to colourize, pick your colour and then just slap a layer mask on the recoloured part and brush away what you don't need.

CONSIDER YOURSELF EDUCATED. xD

I made these last night but then got too tired. I like the idea of a blonde blue eyed model being used and I like lilac Revanche color more than regular purple. I think I like Miranda Kerr's the best since her face is just too cute.

I daydreamed there'd be a cameo by a British Betsy model in the next X-film and they could use an actual model if she doesn't have a big role. And then I thought it'd be cool in a montage if they showed hate crimes against mutant celebrities and there'd be a cameo by Dazzler too :)

haha, if you ever want to change your avatar easily with any picture you find there are a lot of websites you could look into if you google "resize picture online". here's one i found

and avatars have to be 80 x 80 so you'd just click the width button and height button and type "80" and use the zoom (+ or -) to fit how much of the picture in. it's easier if you have some sort of image editor on your computer though for example if you have photoshop you just go to Image > Image Size and type in the pixels (80x80).

I liked the New Exiles version better. It was awesome seeing a Lady Mandarin again. She had much more personality than that thing in the Sisterhood arc. I also loved how CC re-introduced Psylocke's espionage/ninja skills in that arc when she bypassed body guards, neutralized alarms, and security cameras with her own skills.

Yeah, I wanted her to stay in New Exiles because she was the center of attention and was more of a leader than she had been in such a long time. I hated her with Creed though. The thought of Psylocke going back to being wallpaper made me ill.

I am happy that she's back in the 616 though and I'm thrilled that she's getting a mini. I'm also thrilled that she's getting her telepathy back little by little, which I think it's about time it happened.

So both situations have pros and cons.

I think everyone's a bit confused on her power set. She stated last issue that she was primarily telekinetic, but has regained a small degree of her former powers, which she can slightly alter the perceptions of others. I think everyone's a bit confused on her power set. She stated last issue that she was primarily telekinetic, but has regained a small degree of her former powers, which she can slightly alter the perceptions of others. Yet during her fight in the past, she used her psi-knife and used an illusion. No hint of telekinesis.

You'd think that she would've at least used a TK shield at some point during the time she and her team were being shot at.

It's unfortunate; I was hoping for more clarity after her turn in Uncanny, but things are as amorphous as ever!

It would be nice to see her psychic suggestions play a role in taking out Sentry; considering he's already mentally compromised, I think Betsy could easily capitalize on that weakness.

I agree. It's the perfect strategic move to take out the most powerful member first. If Norman Osborn decides to send Sentry into the fight, then Cyclops needs to have Psylocke move around stealthily and manipulate his perceptions. One of the cuckoos could go along with Psylocke for back-up, in case someone tries to sneak up on her.

But judging by the previews for the next issue, Cyclops definately has a job for Betsy. I'm also happy to see Dani and Betsy on panel together too! She was my favorite character on X-Force. I'll never forget the first issue I picked up! It had her on the cover drawn by Pollina. A blast from the past--the return of DANI MOONSTAR!.

Honestly, I think they're trying to simplify her in a way. The reason why I think so is because she has displayed telekinetic-like aspects as a pure telepath and displayed telepathic-like aspects as a pure telekine. Making her both would be easier I think, but Fraction is doing it in a way that is still kinda confusing.

I don't think they're gonna make her too powerful in either category like Jean was. Right now, it seems like Fraction wants to focus on the part of Psylocke that used to move around without anyone noticing, using ninja skills, and possibly illusions to deceive them in battle. I'm sure this was part of the reason to restore some of her former psychic abilities and not solely to hide Beast's true appearance last issue.

It'd also be cool if she still used her telekinesis to enhance her strength, speed, and reflexes--along with the TK sword that cuts for real. She'd be a hell of a fighter. I'd be ok with her being a "Prue Halliwell" level telekinetic since her telepathy is slowly returning. No sense in being omnipotent in both categories.

Maybe he could stab him in the back instead of watching it. I hate Fraction, I think he's so talentless. When I got the last two issues recently in the mail I could hardly read it because my eyes were rolling so much. The dialog is terrible. It's like Fraction himself is voicing all the characters and they're so interchangeable. I feel like a dude from American Pie or something is speaking.

Peopleofpaper- What's crazy is that I'm loving Fraction's run on Invincible Iron Man. I just got caught up on that title last night and read issues 10-present. Loved it.

Fraction's Uncanny is just failing in comparison to his Iron Man work. Maybe this whole "mutant army" thing was just too much for him. He should've just focused on a set cast of maybe 5-6 characters to start.

Fraction has really been inconsistent. His stuff on Iron Man is fantastic but his X-men are lacking. His Utopia one-shot was pretty decent and I hope he his beginning to hit his stride. My main thing with him is his "rotating cast". If only it were that, instead of just a bunch of panel dressings and wallpaper cameos. Then it goes to his "hipster" dialouge and how not many really sound like themselves. Well except for Beast the ultimate ZZZZZZZZ.

I loved CC's "End of Greys" storyarc. It was fantastic.
I also didnt mind when Betts used her teke to fly. I mean I think she should have used it in more of a leaping capacity but it was all good.

Oh, it had it's moments under CC (Betsy and Laura moments, Betsy and Rachel moments), but the Savage Land arch was a hot mess! So was the First Fallen.

I think that uncanny makes writers panicking, as if they must somehow find a story(arch) that can compete with CC's old classical storyline. Hell, CC himself must have felt the preasure times ten!
