I love Havok, but I loath him with Polaris. I think the problem with them as a couple though is that for most of her existence that is all she ever was, Havok's girlfriend. Other than brief flirtation with Bobby when she first appeared she has been with Alex more or less.

Betsy was already pretty established when she encountered Alex so I don't think she would have suffered the same fate. Anyone who's read the Aussi era X-Men cannot deny the sexual tension between the two. He totally wanted Betsy but was too scared to admit it.

I was a little nervous about their pairing, to be honest. He was quite obviously still hung up on Polaris as evidenced during their brief reunion in the Savage Land and I would have hated for Betsy to be in a love triangle with them. I think Psylocke understood this as well. Her parting kiss with Havok before entering the Siege Perilous was like kissing away an opportunity or attraction that was never fully realized or destined.

Besides, writers tend to have an affinity for the status quo; Havok would have eventually found himself back with Polaris again (ask Nurse Annie and Iceman all about that).

yeah, that was nicer than her regular one. i put the Psylocke mod in my Ultimate Alliance game for the PC but it didn't look too great. the voice they used for evil Psylocke in that game was hilarious. it was like an old spinster faking some sort of accent.

The perfect person for Beast was obviously Emma during Morrison's run. Their chemistry was off the charts.

As of matter of fact yes I would. I personally would love to see Burtsy! The Betsy/Kurt pairing.

Besides Beast is a boring character, the way that scene was executed was disgusting, and to see them in a relationship would be WTF! It has nothing to do with his appearance.

I like Nightcrawler being the priestly one who doesn't screw around with anyone. Betsy seems to be freaky deeky for him. And I hate Beast. I think he's boring, his plots are always really lame, and now that he's a cat I don't like the way he looks either. I know they're all mutants but those two are more animal like and it reminds me of a rated g version of bestiality and furries if she'd ever go for them. I like Betsy with Angel. Both seem upper class and equally admired for their looks by a lot of the other people. As much as everyone hates Cyclops, I wouldn't mind Betsy dating him either. I see her being a good match for strong and confident men. So Colossus, Cyclops, Angel, Bishop, Cable, Wolverine, Gambit... pretty much most of the guys I could see being a good fit with her.

Bisop totally wanted her too but she didnt even pay attention to his existence. Angel will always get the okay from me. Cyclops is a big NO mainly because of what happened in the past. Face licking is EPIC FAIL on Betsy's part.

Ever since Betsy was killed by Vargas, I wanted her to remain single when she came back into the fold. For a couple of years after her resurrection I was grateful. She managed to get some characterization and became a major player.

It was all ruined of course with the introduction of AoA Sabretooth. I don't want to see her in a relationship again with anybody. I can tolerate Warren, but no one else. It's true I liked her chemistry with Alex, but that time has passed and I think he should stay with Lorna.

I actually agree with this. With Betsy, she hasn't really grown that much while in a relationship, with the exception of the Crimson Dawn and the Battle with Sabertooth and the Psi-War. When I say Betsy, I'm taking about Asian Psylocke. The Australian days, that felt right; it was chill, relaxing, no angst, there wasn't really any need for relationships. It caused problems for Havok, with Maddie and Inferno, and Longshot and Dazzler were the only ones that really stuck together. British Betsy seemed a bit more self-reliant.

Not saying British Betsy is more self-relian than Asian-Betsy, but noticed a lot more growth while she was single, though it could just be me noticing that. No offense to any Psylocke fans, but her cheating on Angel and flirting with Psylocke only made her look more like a homewrecker/cheater. I say let her grow as a character. I just hope her and AOA Sabertooth don't hook up, but from the looks of it, I doubt we'd be seeing that, at least for now.

I think some of the top X-women(Jean, Psylocke, Rogue) should be allowed to be single at least for a while to allow their characters to grow as people. Maybe some flirting not anything to serious, you know. It's just in comics alot of time when two popular characters get together their boring, because they lose themselves in their respective relationship. Comicbook relationships should allow both characters to remain themselves, but depend on each other, challenge one another, push their partners to be better.

The problem is when one character usually the female become less of what she was to make the male counterpart look cooler it should be equal footing. That's why when writers decide to put two characters together firstly, make sure they can play off each other, and secondly and most importantly set up a dynamic between the two characters to allow other writers to expand, and add more depth to the relationship. Unless it will end up stale, boring, and repetitve.

Revanche was stupid on so many levels, the biggest being that it completely ignores that Spiral altered Betsy's original body in the Body Shoppe and didn't switch minds with anyone. I will never understand editors in the 90's ignoring story after story so they could do something stupid. Wolverine's claws were always stated to be bionic implants, lets ignore that and make them bone. Psylocke had her body altered to look Asian by Spiral let's ignore that and make her having switched minds with an actual Asian chick and even though Betsy isn't a mutant lets give her body a disease only mutants can catch.

You are correct. Revanche is ultimate FAIL. But CC had retconned Betsy into being a mutant a long time ago, and even so people still debate on whether she is otherworlder, or a otherworlder and mutant(since she was said to be stronger than the normal otherworld telepath) so that one doesnt bother me much.

Well I cant think of a specific issue where she says those exacts words, but in New Mutants Annual #2 it says " As Psylocke, her mutant powers are formidable..." there are also the instances of her being registered on cerebro which only detected mutants and in the UXM # 460 she talks to Kurt about the state of the school how when she says "We(as mutants and X-men) preach integration, Kurt, yet look how we live." and she has been called a mutant by many others, like when she was found by the Hand. She was a "mutant telepath".

I did this over the weekend. Thanks to the geeked out way I feel now that she's "back" and was shown in her old armour. I wanted to update it and her old Pink version in one ensemble. So i created this.

I love all these images of Psylocke ya'll have put up! Its awesome stuff! I have a few questions for you fans:

Do you like Psylocke with her martial arts prowess or would you much rather have the british version with her trickery? Basically do you want both telepath and Ninja or do you miss just the telepath without the ninja aspects (which turns her back into relying on the knife more)

With British Betts back, should she have a new outfit or go back to one of her old digs and what color scheme would you choose to go with the new light purple hair?

As for me,I want her to be a psychic ninja girl with limited precognitive powers and the Crimson Dawn powers.Honestly,I don't mind which body she's in really,but since she was introduced to me with the Japanese one and since it's the body she prefers,I'd pick the Asian.But I want her to use her powers in more creative ways,e.g.,casting illusions,reading her foes' mind in order to predict their next move,becoming invisible or teleporting using the Dawn's energies and occasionally using her telepathy offensively by striking with her mind-blasts.NO katanas,NO telekinesis. :smile:

It's annoying when people say that British Betsy was a prude. She wasn't, at least not originally. In the Captain Britain days she was a supermodel and seemed to keep up with the latest fashion trends, wearing mini skirts, heels, etc.

Then all of a sudden when she came to the X-men she was wearing frumpy dresses and acted like she never stepped foot in high heels before. In Uncanny X-men #244 they acted like it was her first time wearing something that looked like something a model would wear. They just played too much on turning the "ugly duckling" into a "swan".

Its funny I've never found much of the relationships in the X-Men to have ever been interesting. There was the one true epic with Scott and Jean with her becoming Phoenix/Dark Phoenix/Death but this ended when she died on the moon. I have prefered the strong friendship that have formed in time with Storm-Wolvie, Rachel-Kitty, Wolvie-Kitty, etc....I see people liking Emma as a character but as long as she will be with Scott, he's gonna be the faceless whiping boy and it's not appealing to me(for that character).

I'm not sure he was *exactly* mad at her.Remember,that moment was from issue #353,right after Warren learnt that Gambit was behind the Mutant Massacre and that Gambit was the one that cost him his wings-you can imagine how furious he must have been and,in my opinion,he just snapped at Betsy because he assumed that she was trying to hide the truth from him,hence he thought that he wouldn't be able to trust anybody again. :smile:

I understand. I mean, I really didn't believe he'd bring back the British body and attempt to put the real Betsy back in and was shocked. But now I really don't think it's Betsy in there so the best thing for me would be to keep it around by any means. I like Asian Psylocke but I rather the switch be permanent. My guess is that it won't be. So instead of just killing off the body with a cool look, cool costume, and possible potential I rather it stick around no matter whats inside. With Asian Psylocke you're going to get the same old thing (in my opinion) with the same old ninja outfit and the same old fighting skills, which is nice and comforting to some people, but I'm ready to see changes. So if that means Kwannon, or some mind controlled thing, is inside the British body I don't mind because at least it's something new :/ In general I don't like how she came back but I'm glad to see a new representation of what British Betsy would have looked like so far so at least I have that.

Too bad it wasn't like Rouge and Joesph in the snow. I loved when Rouge was out in the snow, in the city, and she was wearing winter clothes. Joe Mad made everyone beautiful. I miss the days where the X-men had relationships and depth. Not just years of issues worth of Emma and Scott screwing.

Is that they tend to write to trends now. They dont focus on character as much unless it's a solo book like overshowverine. They focus more on action less on plot now.

I stopped watching reality TV a long time ago. Last thing I remember watching was The Real World with that Anissa chick. It's too bad that depth and character development are being dropped in favor of action.

This is true. Also while there are things that I love about both bodies, and I am more familiar with the Asian body. British Betsy actually has way better feats and stories of substance than Asian Betsy.

Which is horrible beyond belief. Telepathy is my favorite mutant power and there is so much more to it than just creating a psychic knife. One thing I loved about Grant Morrison's run was his ability to write creative feats for the telepaths he was writing. There was Charles, Jean, Emma, and the Cuckoos and neither one was overshadowed. There were clearly levels of power established between them, but they each used their powers so nicely.

It sure seems like that's how he's going with her. Bleh. So far I'm almost sad that she's not in Exiles anymore atleast there she got a lot of panel time and was co-leader, she got lots of gorgeous solo covers also.

To tell you the truth, I didn't really want her to leave the Exiles. I hated her with Creed to no end, but she was the main female of the group and I liked how she trained constantly to increase her fighting skills to confront Slaymaster (though it dragged on too long before we got a resolution). She even showed a bit more intelligence that reminded me of her Aussie days when she was spouting off about how one of the worlds they were on had major differences in how the Earth's crust was shaped compared to her own.

Or in battle when she'd assist her team by throwing her opponent into another that one of her teammates were fighting, etc.

I knew that once she joined Uncanny she'd be mostly wallpaper because there are way too many characters. I was hoping that Mike Carey would get her at least and he's good at character driven stories.

Then again, she was with Creed. We should write up our own pros and cons of being back in Uncanny.

His drawings of the butterfly effect where the best! I LOVED how he drew the effect during Betsy's battle with Mr Sinister when she was inside Jean's mind; it was like glass around her face, breaking up bit by bit, as she mentally fought him.

It sure seems like that's how he's going with her. Bleh. So far I'm almost sad that she's not in Exiles anymore atleast there she got a lot of panel time and was co-leader, she got lots of gorgeous solo covers also.

I Agree on this. I hated the idea of the Crimson Dawn. But I did like that Shadowporting thing. That Fits a Sneaky Telepathic Ninja more than anything she's gotten since.

Lets take a look at this.

Aussie Betsy was a master at using Stealth and Deception to misdirect and confound foes. She always made things seem as what they were not.

Body Switch.

Asian Betsy STILL used guile and misdirection to fight and Actually beat Wolverine.. (who in my opinion actually just jobbed). Wolverine is a highly experienced fight and should have mopped the floor with her no matter which body she was in. Stronger, Faster, Experienced. BUT not sneaky and crafty as Betsy is.

Asian Betsy loved to be up in your face waay to much and that cost her in lots of fights. The Shadowportation would have been a Saving grace. Imagine her and Kurt using their powers in Tandem along With Telepathy to confound and confuse. Win Win to me.

I first got introduced to Psylocke as a telepathic, shadowporting ninja--so I didn't mind that power. Sure she didn't need the change, but I liked the whole mystical potential that the Crimson Dawn brought. Only thing I started to hate was the tattoo. It just got bigger and bigger until it covered almost half her face.

So I'm glad the tattoo is gone again. Psylocke's face must remain unblemished. :D

As for the X-men getting weirded out by her, I cracked up when she teleported out of the shadows for the first time and you could see the X-men's hearts stop beating for a few seconds lol.

My first exposure to her was during the Crimson Dawn mini. It succeeded in giving her personality where the individual issues of Uncanny failed, IMO. She was struggling trying to retain her sense of self and was quite confused. I liked that little nightmare she had and accidentally pulled Warren into it and she was asking Warren who she really was, changing between her British and Asian forms in the process. I fell in love with both Psylocke and Archangel then.

So I just read my Sword of Braddock one-shot again and realized that when Betsy first went back to 616 to stop Slaymaster, she did some personal shopping and whatnot. CC actually referenced her model days. " I indulged far too much today, visiting my old haunts...making my favorite designers very happy. I didnt try and hide from my old fashion crowd. My brother hated that part of my life. It was beyond his comprehension. Word would quicky get around that Betsy Braddock was back in town."

I really don't think that could possibly be Asian Betsy. Dodson is one of the only artists in the last 10 years that actually draws an Asian looking Asian Psylocke. I doubt he'd make her look like she has a Caucasian face especially after the whole body switch debacle. I think it's Emma but hopefully it's at least Dazzler if we can't have Britsh Bets. :wink:

With Armor, Surge, and Karma running around in Uncanny there seem to be more Asian looking X-women and Psylocke would be piled onto that if they switch her back. I would love it if British Betsy stayed around and there was more of a focus on just her where they could slow down the other 100 plots and do a character piece. Have her wash the purple out of her hair and talk about being a model.

Me too! I kinda wish it isn't blue. I prefer something purple/lavender.

Gah.Not only is he(Bianchi)one of the worst pencillers you can find,but the costumes he designs-especially,those for the X-Women-are horrific.I am glad that Betsy is away from Astonishing X-Men.Now that she gets a new costume,let's all hope she gets a good writer,as well(Mike Carey).
