HEAR HEAR! I concur. There are times when I am disappointed in the character. Not through any fault of her own, She is fictional after all. BUT I do despise the way certain writers/creators treat the character, instead of TRYING to find ways to make her work. Solo or Ensemble. My disappointment resides with them and not her.

But every now and then I have to take a break and reread some of her better stories to get the ole Psylocke mojo (hehe) back.

I like the Kohar design too. It looked more Warrior than Ninja. And I always like Psylocke with a real sword.

Psylocke week was okay, I guess.
It was a busy week for CBR. With the Mutant League still running, the solicit for April was releaved, Eight X-Books released in the same week, Uncanny had the best issues in 2 years, X-Factor had a very controversial issue, I still think Psylocke week went pretty well. It's too bad several of our Betsy hardcore fans weren't available. I didn't see Cmx, jarrod, and where the hell is DDM? LOL..

Regarding Betsy in New Exiles #17, I've read the issue (and thanks .Luckystar. for updating the blog.), and surprisingly I like Pyslocke's part in it.
I was skeptical after reading the previews of the issue - with Psylocke having repetitive self monologues. BUT I think CC and Seely did a pretty good job on her. I especially liked Seely's rendition of Betsy. She has that confident and cunning (in a good way) look while being sexy at the same time.

We know Betsy will have one last fight with Slaymaster in Sword of Braddock, but I didn't expect her to win and spare him.
She finally overcame her fear and still stick to her values (not killing an already surrenderred foe).
Probably in the one shot, she thinks that she made a mistake and some people just doesn't deserve her mercy. This time... Betsy is the one hunting down Slaymaster.

I can't wait for her to be back to 616, but actually pretty nervous on how Fraction (and Land) will handle Betsy. He said that we have to wait untill the very end of the story to give a proper assessment. Nevertheless, I'm sure she'll definitely kick ass!

It's a whole new body, built by her crazy brother- Jamie.

i liked Sal Larocca's design when she was suppose to come back and be bad in Xtreme. Anyways too bad she isnt a telepath anymore. I doubt they would revert her to that. Even though she was awesome with it

THAT is a nice design for out girl.. She looks positively Euro Asian or just straight euro in that pic. I do have to wonder, with the artists who currently officially draw her. Is there a plan to draw her closer to her English roots, to make way for a new change? Or are they just not good at drawing asian women. Or even a Eurasian mixed woman.

Seems like Silvestri and Larocca, and lee Are the only ones capable of drawing Asian women.

Storm is seen as sexy regardless, but her sexiness is shown as strength and the outfits she wears enhances her personal confidence.

I don't think that he said that he would rather want her dead as much as he said that she IS dead. Meaning that she died at the end of Endsong and that she is not Hope Summers (Cable's adopted daughter). This goes with what he said last June at Heroes Con. If he answered "alive", a few people would probably get confused. As for Psylocke, he probably likes both versions of her. Someone on Cup O' Joe asked him a few questions and even though he answered that person's question about Pepper Potts, he didn't answer the question that asked if Jean's coming back.

I feel bad for Dazzler fans. And I certainly don't want Betsy to be treated the same way as her in Uncanny. But I loved her story in Manifest Destiny :smile: .

Yeah, part fo the whole nineties fad. The Marvel vs DC mini was first, where readers got to vote on how some battles played out between heroes then the universes merged into amalgam and carious books were released. I dont know all of them. There was a JLX book or something as well I think. I dont know if a version of betsy was in that.

Plus, while we're on a betsy thread. I hope she comes back in the next uncanny arc. I first properly liked her during the Psi war. It was a good time. Made me appreciate her.

That HAS to happen! Since the arc is called sisterhood it better show the x-women at their best! But, I really don't see Rouge returning to the x-men in time for sisterhood, considering her arc in x-men legacy just finishes when this goes on. She was a British telepath who was genetically altered to look asian and mentally programmed and trained to be an assassin, then she shook that evil brainwashing and came back to the X-Men. Then Claremont killed her off in a weak send off and I lost track of the character since her last resurrection.

I also liked her before the Hand got a hold of her.

I think that in the long run the altering of her persona (physical and mentally) is what made her become uninteresting and boring to writers and readers (she just wasn't the Betsy from the Australian era anymore, but a completely different character ).

An ingenious writer would have made that transformation undone (lots of possibilities with her character once that would occur).

This is especially true when you think of the abilities of characters associated with the Braddocks.. Her brother Jamie, Jaspers etc and the fact that magic is so prevalent in MU Britain.. I'm sure a talented writer could come up with a good story for some kind of reset.

Indeed. Jim Lee's Psylocke is possibly one of the most beautiful drawn version of her. I think it's not a bad idea using the suit she's wearing in that picture as her next costume. It's still Lee's design.. and she's wearing pants!

We were never shown whom Spiral was working on when Maddie approached her to join, were we? Spiral may not have been able to revive Revanche, but perhaps she had done everything up until that point and restored her appearance to look like the original Betsy. Spiral's a crafty and mean-spirited woman, so it wouldn't be beyond her character. I really don't think Ninja Psylocke is the real problem. It's how she has been handled by certain writers. We have seen decent ninja Psylocke. She was written great by Nicieza and had a great story in Psi-War and even Claremont did great with her and her personality when she first returned in Uncanny. I think Fraction can do her some good he seems to write the X-Men a lot better than Brubaker did and with Axel Alonso having Betsy's back I think things are going to get a lot better for her.

Revanche died by the Legacy Virus. Psylocke died but then 'remade' by Jamie not to mentioned added with some features (immunity from telepathy and much stronger TK).
Being 'challanged' by Jamie, maybe she'll dig Betsy's old body and create a clone with some better features (ala Jamie); make her in under the her/Sisterhood control to kill the X-Men?

At the end of the day, I DON'T want two Betsys running around in the Marvel Universe. Maybe the cloned Betsy will be killed and somehow the real Betsy will swapped bodies (again) and get her British body back?

I think being a non-physical, telepathic combatant forced Betsy to be a smarter fighter. She used deception or manipulation to win the day. Far too many people seemed to be immune to her psychic knife and now, despite having a TK arsenal at her disposal, she's still thrown by writers into situations in which she has to engage in hand-to-hand combat. Storm is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, but I don't see her thrown into bouts of pugilism nearly as much as Betsy.

One thing I haven't understood in X-Men is the reaction of characters to losing telepathy. Telepathy is like having a sixth sense; when characters like Psylocke, Jean, and Professor X lose this ability, I would think it's akin to becoming blind or deaf. I could buy the supposition Psylocke has been worse at combat post-telepathy because she lost this critical sense, but even when she still had TP and the Asian body, she still got the beat down. :frown:

Yea I think we always just assume it was nijitsu because she is a ninja. But there are many forms of the martial art i have recently discovered. Then it has been said that she mastered several martial arts. I would at least like to know three of them.

Kitty vs a well rounded trained thinking ninja Psylocke would be a good battle. Kitty vs Oh let me just kick and punch and jump into a fight without using my brain ninja Psylocke would be horrible for Betsy.

I only started collecting X-books for the past 5 years and back then, I had absolutely no idea that Kitty is a ninja (untill someone told me that she is or.. at least possessed by Ogun and got the knowledge).

All the books that I read during most recent times (Uncanny and Astonishing) didn't indicate that she's a very good martial artist. Yeah, she kicks and punch some, but nothing screams that she's a ninja or a very good fighter. Well.. the most memorable scene was when she puched Emma in the face (in Astonishing).
Did Marvel drops that or maybe she's (like prodigy) has the knowledge but don't practise that alot?

That's a shame, I wish somebody would add a female member like that to a supporting cast. Hmm... as for Claremont, isn't he still on New Exiles? And is Psylocke still on the team? All the Exiles need to do is travel to an alternate "Fat Earth" and have Betsy get fat when she gets there upon breathing in that earth's atmosphere. Claremont could make this a lasting change for her (At least for a little while, anyway...).:biggrin:

I totally agree with you. I always thought Psylocke was sexy (As far as comic book females go) but man, if she got fat like she is in those pictures, her "Hotness" factor would be WAAYYY off the charts.

Hi yana.. Psylocke was resurrected by her altering-reality brother, Jamie Braddock, in UncannyX-men #455 at the very same place she was killed in X-Treme X-Men #2-3.

I'm not sure how he did it. But she had exactly the same look (as oppose to the original plan-making her British) as before (she got killed) but with some added 'fine-tuning'. Her TK is much stronger now and she was blocked from any form of telepathy (immunity).
The reason Jamie resurrected her was to act as a weapon to fight the Fist Fallen and the Foursaken (Uncanny X-Men #472-474).

I only started collecting X-books for the past 5 years and back then, I had absolutely no idea that Kitty is a ninja (untill someone told me that she is or.. at least possessed by Ogun and got the knowledge).

All the books that I read during most recent times (Uncanny and Astonishing) didn't indicate that she's a very good martial artist. Yeah, she kicks and punch some, but nothing screams that she's a ninja or a very good fighter. Well.. the most memorable scene was when she puched Emma in the face (in Astonishing).
Did Marvel drops that or maybe she's (like prodigy) has the knowledge but don't practise that alot?

No it's just that Marvels Writers have dropped yet ANOTHER ball. I mean seriously how hard is it to catalog your characters, their changes and their histories.
That way when future writers come along they know how a certain character is.
When you have the history of the X-men, and their pasts. You should KNOW them, and what they can and can't do.
