Jeph Loeb also did this in X-Man, which apparently is what led to Onslaught.

That was actually an interesting feat for Xaiver, while in his astral form he knock on Doctor Strange's door in New York while still sitting in Genosha.

In an issue of MadroX, Wolfsbane is attacked by the astral form she is spying on and somehow destroys it, killing the physical body.

Reality is just a mental thing.

Yeh X-man pulled Xavier's astral form into physicality, so it's possible.

I do beleieve that was Nate's biggest power stunt. Just like when Jean seprated Apocalypse's astral form from Scott. Most impressive.

So technically a telepath can make a clone of themselves?

Well if the astral form becomes solid, real, physical and all that wouldn't be the same as another human being?

I, see:) That is a good question. If Xaiver was in his astral form then his physical body had to be somewhere. Presumably, the X-Mansion. So, if Nate pulled his astral form out of the plane was it capable of being physically touched by anyone? I don't know? That's a good one.

I think the astral form having presence would cause the body to go into a coma-like state. Like when Doctor Strange does it. Or Trance.

Are you talking about making an astral projection tangible?
Well in some cases, it is possible. I'm guessing Nate Grey in the feat you descirbe, used Telekinesis to make the astral projection physical/tangible. A great example of this is Prue Halliwell in Charmed. Prue could project her mind and use her telekinesis to make it real and fully astral project. Her astral projections were always tangible though and never intangible (minus one case where she used an empaths power to become really strong and do this).
Xavier could have knocked mentally and made Dr. Strange here it mentally so he'd come answer the door, and making it look like he was there so he wouldn't have to spend long passing Dr. Strange's mental defenses.
Keep in mind I haven't read the issues you're talking about, so these are just theories.

When someone Astral Projects, sometimes they fall into a state of unconsciousness, but some powerful Astral Projecters are able to stay awake while Astral Projecting.

^Yeb Emma does it all the time without going to coma-state.

Don't remember this and I'm a big Charmed fan.

First of all; astral projection is what exactly? And should it be possible to affect physically?
First of all; astral projection is what exactly? And should it be possible to affect physically?
Astral projection (or astral travel) is a paranormal interpretation of an out-of-body experience achieved either awake or via lucid dreaming or deep meditation. The concept of astral projection assumes the existence of another body, separate from the physical body and capable of traveling to non-physical planes of existence. Commonly such planes are called astral, etheric, or spiritual. Astral projection is often experienced as the spirit or astral body leaving the physical body to travel in the spirit world or astral plane. Astral projection is controversial. Skeptics say that there is only anecdotal evidence that anything actually leaves the body.

It is mental, but it can have influences and affect the tangible world of matter and space.

Her astral form became intangible?
Yeah, she used it to jump into the demon carrying the emotional baggage of half the city with her.

I bet you're right.
And for the record, I don't remember much from these Excalibur "House of M" issues, just that I felt like they didn't really add anything to House of M and seemed completely unnecessary.
I call those "decoy tie-ins." Or at least I will from now on.
(Or maybe in this case, "astral projection tie-ins" :D )

I love D&D so much, (Though im not using it to justify my opinion here.)
but it really depends in that since. If you access the Astral Plane by mental projection then no you should be physical because you just established that it was mental journey to which got you to the Astral Plane. Now however the ruling should be that you can still be harmed on the astral plane by other powerful psychics or by a native resident of the Astral Plane wielding weapon designed to kill astral travelers.;) D&D players know what I'm talking about.) Any harm done to you're Astral Form as a result of being attacked on the astral plane should have a phantom wound type effect on you're real body (that can lead to very real consequences.)
The only time when the physical form should be actual wounded on a physical level is when a person is physical transported ala dimensional travel to Astral Plane. There all the same methods of attack on the material or astral plane should apply and do real damage to the individual.
And then everyone started looking for each others silver cord. :evilsmile

I would think it would stay there...by the way knowing how powerful Strange is I assuming NOTHING can ass through his home thus the reason why X didndt just fly thru.
