OK, it's Sunday and still no thread for this issue, so here goes from memory...

Plot: We're in the middle of a fight between Wolverine and DP. (Deadpool has been hired by a shadowy government type figure to kill Wolverine.) Wolverine starts off the issue by slicing off most of Deadpool's fingers, leading to Deadpool making several "stupid flipper hands" comments. We get a full page spread that alludes to DP having a Captain America costume ready, presumably for him to wear to drive Wolverine absolutely berkerker. There's some more fighting, and during the fight a woman cries out for help for her baby. Wolverine goes to help, and it's revealed to be a set-up -- the "baby" is a bomb which blows up in Wolverine's face. Things seem to be going according to Deadpool's plan... Wolverine attacks Deadpool, and while Deadpool is taking on some serious damage, his fingers have grown back enough to be useful. He shoots Wolverine in the head at point blank range. The last image: Wolverine and DP had seemingly died in each others arms.

Review: Not much in the way of character development, other than to say that Deadpool may be insane, but at least he's got a plan. There were a couple of gags that made me laugh. There was a cliffhanger, but this really seems like a textbook example of decompression. Couldn't this issue and the last one have been combined?

Rating: 2/5 (Fair)

OK your turn,

I wonder if this arc will end up as the first five issues of the new Deadpool series first trade paperback. Because it's certainly more about Wade than Logan.

The Captain America suit has me curious. As does who hired Wade.

When you see a fight between two guys who just have healing factors, it can get dull, or repetitive. I don't recall a lot of what I'm seeing in this multi-issue fight from any Logan/Sabretooth battle, or any previous Logan/DP battle. The lost fingers bit was nice. The hired actress/fake baby in burning car was nice.

Although, for anyone who's liking this arc, I gotta recommend Dillon & Way's Punisher/Bullseye miniseries. Because that's the closest tone and pacing to this gallows humored brawl.

Still very thin on motivation. Little character development for Wolverine. Different portrayal of Deadpool's insanity that seems off on what Nicienza has done in C&D, but not terribly inconsistent or unlike anything he's ever been shown to be. Fun dialogue. Art is... well... not a lot of different character facial structures, since it's Dillon. But at least it's easy to follow the action.

5.5/10.
