Just wondering if Red X makes an appearance in the comic series.

Also what is the best pleace to start with the series? Start from trade Number 1? Or is there a better jumping in point?

AFAIK, Red X was just in the series, not in the comics.

I recommend you start with the first trade of the latest series. You could jump in with something newer, but it wouldn't have the same feel if you don't start from the beginning.
