I haven't gotten to my comic shop yet to take a look at this... but I'm contemplating picking it up when I go next time. So for those of you who got it, how was it?
(Oh, and I wasn't sure if this topic should go here or in the Superman forum; sorry if I put it in the wrong place!)

It was a pretty good setup issue. I enjoyed it and it kind of had a Watchmen feel to it . . . in a good "homage" sort of way to me.
I was glad to see Wally and John the main focus so far in terms of non-Tangent characters. Tangent Flash, Joker, & Green Lantern seem to be the beginning focus characters for the Tangent side of things. I'm sure we'll see Tangent Superman come into play soon, obviously.
The history lesson in the back was good for those who aren't familiar with the Tangent line AND it had story to go along with it. That made it nicer to those of us who are familiar.

So New Earth is officially Earth 1 now?
Did I miss that announcement?

People were asking about this in a thread at Newsarama (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=150688) (indeed, there was a great deal more discussion about the numbering than about the story),and Jamal Igle, who takes up art duties with #2, checked with his editor to verify that yes, in fact, Earth-1 is New Earth.

But I could have sworn that New Earth was Earth-0?

That's not what DC was saying last year when 52 wrapped up and COUNTDOWN began. DC has itself confused again (not a good sign when managing a Multiverse).

Numbering aside . . . it was still a great issue!

Yeah, the numbering really confused me too, I thought we weren't going to see Earth-1 until next year

It's good to see Jurgen's writing stuff again. For whatever reason, he seemed to fall out of favor the past few years. I really liked what he did with Captain America and especially Thor before they rebooted both books. The man knows what he's doing and his books are easy to follow.

I thought this was a pretty good issue. I love these type of stories where the good guys take over and screw the whole world up.

I liked it, but was just a hair bothered by Booster Gold.
He was already established as a sleazy white dude with a yacht in "Tales of the Green Lantern." When the whole of continuity for a universe is 12 issues, can't they keep that straight?

Yeah, it's pretty messed up. Hopefully this retcon (because if New Earth is Earth-1--despite DC saying otherwise for the past year--it is a retcon) doesn't last.

Shouldn't every universe see themselves as Earth-1? I mean, who wakes up and says "I'm on Earth-44. Awesome!"

Read issue 2, I'm really really enjoying this series I never heard of the Tangent universe before.

No, originally Rip Hunter said there was New Earth, and Earths 1-51. If New Earth is now (renumbered as ) Earth-1 then there's an Earth-52 out there we need to see :)
