So Magneto is still claiming to be powerless. That's interesting. Is he really, or did he just say that because he knew Karima was listening?

looks good.

"you're doing something. i just can't tell whether it's good or bad."

"yes. that's always been the problem."

good lines.

Karima is great. I'm glad she's playing a part here. I like the fact that there's someone who respects both Magneto and Xavier in that room.

Xavier and Magneto face-to-face again! With Xavier comatose and Magneto depowered, these old soldiers appear sidelined.

The description says he's powerless, he says he's powerless, we really have no reason to believe that he has his powers back do we? I hope he does, but is there any evidence?

I like how he calls Karima "Sentinel."

No real concrete evidence, just Qwerty's prophecy and his rather enigmatic reply to Skids.

Interesting interaction between Magneto and Karima. Glad they are interacting.

I doubt Magneto would feel all that threaten by a Sentinel, if he had his powers ;)

Well, I think I remember reading that Legacy was all pretty much about Xavier's past and potential future...

So Magneto is powerless?...I wonder how come he's gone on this long without any sightings or anything of him.

Correct. Legacy is mainly all about Xavier.

DAMN.

Carey writes the best Magneto since Classic Claremont.

(oh and he referred Genosha Excalibur! yay)

Why can't this be bi-weekly? :(

That dialogue is f***ing money. There's a lot of reflection, resentment, and subtextual wisdom in that.

I couldn't care less about Xavier (nuthin's gonna change that) but I do love seeing Karima! And was that two actual glimpses of Rogue I saw!? :D

Magneto says that he has no powers, but Karima says that he's doing something to Xavier? Interesting.

I'll be honest. I just don't care about Xavier and Magneto anymore. While well-written, Carey is just rehashing the strange relationship the two men have always had.

I'd prefer it if Magneto and Cyclops were having this talk. "How far the apple has fallen from the tree, Scott. Tell me, did your life flash before your eyes when Xavier was shot?"

No, Magneto and Xavier didn't appear together until at least The (Uncanny) X-Men No 6. I'm not sure if this conversation occurred in that issue, though. It might also have been in The (Uncanny) X-Men No 7 or No 11, but couldn't have been in another issue of the series until sometime well after Stan Lee's departure. The other scenes are from The Uncanny X-Men No 304 and X-Men No 25, as you noted, though.

Only problem is that Cyclops isn't interesting in the least. How many times has Magneto had to talk down to Cyclops? All of a sudden Cyclops is gonna be able to hold his own? LOL. Magneto and Karima interactions are the best of the year.

Magneto talks down to everyone. That's just a given.

I don't think it's 'all of a sudden', either. Given his recent 'growth-spurt', I think Magneto would be surprised by the Scott Summers he confronted now.

smack talk would be difficult now that he's equally as monstrous as he believes Magneto to be. seriously, Cyke has a kill-squad.

I'd prefer it if Magneto and Cyclops were having this talk.

While I certainly like that Magneto is finally back (unless by chance its a skrull) I agree with you that they need to get Magneto interacting outside of the same few people he has spent almost all his time talking to the past decade. Highest on that list for me would be Cyclops, Wanda and Lorna. The talk with Cyke would deal with the future of how mutantkind should be protected, the talk with Wanda would finally get out Mags feelings about M-Day, and his talk with Lorna would deal with certain skeletons that need to be un-earthed from his past.

While I like Xavier/Magneto interaction, it really doesn't hold the potental that certain other storylines do for Magneto at this time.

Heh, who would've known I'd enjoy a good Genoshan Excalibur reference.

I approve! I'm still a bit iffy on the premise, but every issue and preview that comes out I become a bit less worried. Tan's art even looks nice! Its interesting to see some of the tacky costumes of the past drawn by a 'modern' artist.

LOL! I'm no fan of his by any means, but I was expecting sooooo much worse. It doesn't look nearly as awkward as his run on Uncanny...yet. I'm always fine with his first issue or so and then the weird facial expressions pop up like woah.

I love the crap out of this book. Finally a writer who wants us to feel like all those different runs and series actually form a whole and actually affect the characters and their future. So tired of many writers' attitudes of: "I'm gonna do X-Men for 2 years and do completely crazy stuff so people will take note of ME! And I'll ignore everything that happened in the last 5 years. Hell, make it 20!"

Everything started to feel like 'What If'-runs.

So great to see someone getting the characters. And come on, Xavier-Magneto is at the thematic core of the X-Men. About time someone took a step back and said 'Okay but what is it all about?'

I'm enjoying Uncanny, but I have to tell you, I don't think the greatest thing in the world to do right after Messiah Complex is a cutesy story about hippies in San Fran. (I know, I know, that story isn't over yet. Who knows)

No Legacy is by far my favorite X-book right now. And hey, this ish has a few tiny shots of Rogue, so I'm happy, hehe.

Good stuff.

Mags and Chuck pwnz.

A thought, though: Mike, I *LOVE* the dialogue and overall vibe. But please... Stop it with the characters that are ONLY cool via pimping/fanwank. It just doesn't work around Mags or Chuck. Those two will outcool aforementioned type of character on their worst day.

Still, good stuff and can't wait to pick it up.
