Welcome to X-Crescence, which is from the word excrescence, which is defined as "An outgrowth or enlargement, especially an abnormal one, such as a wart."

Well, this is an outgrowth from the X-Boards proper.

This is where you pretty much can post whatever you want.

Civility rules apply here! But you can have arguments and stuff like that, you just can't trash talk posters who are not in the thread, like, "Oh man, did you see what Poster X said? What a loser." You can talk generally about stuff, though - like, "Oh man, some posters are really getting me mad today," etc. I figure I've given enough warnings on this point, so if I someone starts trashing on a poster outside of this thread, I'll just close the whole thing down.

Otherwise, enjoy!

-Brian

Of course you like yours better. You're a heterosexual woman. It's kind of a gimme.

Still Alicia Witt needs to be in a comic book movie as some hot redhead. I don't care if it's Jean Grey, Mary Jane Watson, Siryn, or whoever. She is damn fine.

Actually, I want her in a movie because she was awesome in "Four Rooms", as well as John Water's "Cecil B. Demented". She did admirably well on "The Sopranos" in a guest role.

But she was awesome as the psychic little girl in the 80s version of Dune. She was like, five when she played that role.

Actually, I preferred the Sci-Fi remake of Dune to the original. Stayed truer to the book.

Although, Children of Dune gets weird. (Incest theme. Never happens on screen, but they're kind of weirdly interested in each other. Like Wanda and Pietro from Ultimates vol. 3)

Nuh uh. Although, I'm surprised no one's started a "Who's your favorite pseudo-incestuous X-couple" thread. Would it be...

Wanda & Pietro?
The Von Struckers?
Black Tom liked young Siryn a bit unhealthy... he compared her to Maeve (eep.)
Magneto & Wanda? (the dancing for the brotherhood vibe way back when...)
Madelyne Pryor's fascination with Nate Grey?

If we're talking Summers family oddities:

Scott dates Jean, who is the spitting image of Scott's second daddy Charles' third girlfriend, Amelia.
Scott marries Madelyne, who looks just like (and turns out to be a clone of) Jean.
Scott's second wife is Jean.
Scott's dating Emma, who is pretty much a female version of his second daddy Charles.
Alex, Scott's younger brother, has an affair with his sister-in-law, Madelyne.
Alex dates Lorna, third daughter of Magnus, who is like a brother to Alex's big brother's second daddy Charles (when Magnus isn't busy being Charles' worst enemy).
Gabriel, Scott's youngest brother, is married to Cal'Syee, older sister of Lilandra, ex-wife to Scott's second daddy Charles.

There was no sadder day than the day that Tom Corsi put a skylight in Sven's head, leaving the other two without the gay incestuous three-way they'd come to know and crave. Two way incest isn't as trendy as with 3.

I don't know if you've read the book or not but it's not quite incest - not only are they twins but their minds are basically the same since they share the exact same memories and that makes them frightfully close. Also, when diving into their memories Ghanima and Leto tend to use their mother and father respectively as their core so as to ground the other sibling in the present ... Wanda and Pietro is an entirely different story.

... THE ONE WHO DIED WAS ERIC, NOT SVEN.

God, you're killing me today. And I don't think Sven and Harlan liked sharing each other with Eric... they seemed to not give a flying fuck when he died... I think they only liked sticking it in each other and not their twisted brother. Unless he was their cum dumpster... they might have spitroasted him a few times... but then accidentally merged.

Ghanima even has her own lover and partner (the first male Bene Gesserit - Irulan's nephew), which Leto is fully supportive of. It's really not marriage the way you and I would consider it as there is no sex, no romance and they never even pretend to go through the motions. So it's nothing more than a political contract to bludgeon people with.

I'll read the Order.

Note: I'm getting the awesome Iron Fist in graphics.

On the DC end, I'm getting Countdown, just to complete the train wreck of a series. Wish I'd bailed when it was like, in the 40s, though.

6 minutes for a mile if you're jogging and you figure you carry that momentuem over to the 2nd...12 is a good goal.

She's awesomely terrible. LOVE it. It's like so angry girl rock that its tranny!fierce!

I HATED Danny Noriega. He butchered both an Elvis song and Tainted Love.
Danny was amazingly catty and embarrassingly flamboyant. I loved every awkward moment. And he could sing. He was like the crazy Sanjaya with better vocals and even more attitude.

I actually would be happy with both Carly or Syesha winning. Didn't the record label Carly was signed to fall apart before anything could be released. It's kind of silly to hold something like that against her.

Carly LIES. Randy LIES. He was a department head of the label she was on. And she already had released her album long before the label closed. They spent TWO MILLION dollars promoting her. Its an Idol LOL scandal. She probably didn't even wait in that long line when she auditioned. She was just moved up to the front.

Syesha is an "actress" who has done work for Ford - an Idol sponsor. She probably didn't wait in line either.

David Archuletta's Dad/manager works with Idol finalists.

Its just one thing after another of terribly unethical behavior from Idol. Fortunately for them they were able to point all their scandal attention on poor David Hernandez, the male stripper at a gay bar.

Every talent competition has a 'safe bet' in it placed by the producers to ensure some one "Genuinely talented" wins. In the UK we had it last year with Leona Lewis (she slept with Simon Cowell 2 years before the show) and the guy who won the search for a Joseph had been a succesfull understudy in big shows and was going to be a break out talent anyway, to name but a few.

When I posted my blog to the livejournal group "comicbooklovers" he's shown up the past two weeks to claim I outright hate DC on principle, and am going out of my way to lampoon what's been a great 44 issues so far.

Look at the old CC/non-CC wars. People can be looking at the same panels but be reading very different books.

No kidding. I finally got a CC-Fan to tell me what he thought was good about New Exiles rather than just bait people who don't like the book after 45 minutes of asking today. That was seriously the equivalent of pulling teeth.

This is the same deal. Instead of CC, though, it's DC. The guy says I'm just a hater, even if I can explain what's been bad about the storie's execution, direction, pacing, dialogue...

And yet, he can't tell me what he likes about it. He even pulls the same, "If you don't like it, then why are you reading it?"

Dude, my blog is a crossover blog. If it's Final Crisis related, or Secret Invasion related, I try to give it a mention. When CC fans pull that argument, I can always say, "Well, it has Pyslocke 616 and Sage 616, and they both are in Mutant Tracker, so I gotta read to keep their entries updated. In the process, I'm reading a story with plotholes big enough Ron Jeremy would look like he was packin' a cocktail wiener in 'em."

Or something like that.

Just fuck with his head, if he's going to invest so much energy in fighting with you then you may as well make it worthwhile.

The point of contention this week is... "How the hell did Jimmy Olsen know that the rest of the heroes he met on Apokalips would make a run for Cadmus Labs after discovering that the Earth they're all on isn't THEIR Earth?"

Now, I said it's left somewhat unclear how Jimmy deduced this. He just says he figured. I thought it was a bit of a reach, and suggested the way to explain it would've been maybe the Source just told him so. (Hey, it got Jimmy to Apokalips.)

The douche then proceeds to say, "Well, if you were THINKING, you'd realize Jimmy has spent like 50 years of continuity hanging out with other investigative reporters. In that time, it would seem likely he picked up some deductive reasoning, mmm?"

Bitch, please. Jimmy Olsen's always been portrayed as a kinda half-wit, to my reasoning. He couldn't figure out that Clark Kent is actually Superman, despite the glasses being the only difference. Come f***ing on. Furthermore, the only real skill as an investigative reporter Jimmy seems to ever have shown, is turning up in drag in order to go undercover as a woman. Which means he's really as good a detective as say, oh... Rupaul.

The real reason, as I guessed, was the writer simply wanted them all to meet up in the same place out of story convenience. The end.

So yeah. I think I am going to drive this guy mad if he pushes the point. I might not HAVE to be as civil as I am on CBR, but I'll still be. I don't need to be rude to get an easy point across.

What got me about Spidey 3 was that they spent like 20-30 minutes of screen time showing us how sad and pathetic Mary Jane could be, interspersed with Peter being a douche because of the symbiote.

Meanwhile, Gwen Stacy gets reduced to a ploy to make MJ jealous, rather than get the treatment a character of her repute in the comics deserves, and the moving performance of Thomas Hayden Church as the Sandman gets forgotten for long stretches of the movie.

Eddie Brock as Venom is thrown together right towards the end, as is the Harry Osborn Good Hobgoblin moments.

In short, they missed where the story could have gone for where it actually ended up. So close, yet so far.

Can't you call your LCS and ask them to please save you a copy? (Be sure to use the "please" -- politeness can work wonders. On the other hand, I remember the time another shopper was blocking my way in the supermarket and I kept calling her "ma'am" when I was trying to get her attention. When I finally did, she apologized -- "ma'am" hadn't registered because she wasn't used to be addressed politely. I forget what terms she said other people used -- "Hey, you?" While they weren't obscene or anything like that, I know my mother would have considered them dreadfully rude.)

I'm paying because I'm single and have 3 jobs, 1 which is salary and 2 that are tips. I get screwed over basically because I make too much money, or so they say. I owe $659.00 in federal taxes and $254.00 in state.

WHY are you reporting tips?!!!

Swashbuckler
03-19-2008, 11:04 AM
I don't report all of my tips. At one of my jobs all of my credit card tips are automatically recorded and I have to claim them in order to clock in and out, it's built into the system. And most people tip at chain resaurants with credit cards.

My other job, as a bartender. I make $7.00 hour plus tips there, but I only claim a few bucks if anything there.

Then I also have a salary job where I make around $30,000 a year.

Well there is about 200 mutants left, no clue if new ones are being born or if baby messiah was a fluke, naturally things would be darker. Also, Claremont, despite what he HAS done, is not good for this new direction of the x-verse and I hope he stays far, far away from it.

brian, i know you're not a huge fan of claremont...but the new exiles has to fall in line with the current direction, whether claremont likes it or not... and if i asked if things are getting darker, it's because the previews are telling me that scott summer is taking off the gloves...

Not really. New Exiles isn't even treated like an X-Book. It has no ties to anything else and it's not like Claremont is invited to the X-Office retreats where stuff gets planned.

It is Scott Summers, he's realized the old ways aren't working, they don't apply to this new status quo. I can keep turning my wheel to the right but if the road goes left and I keep turning right I'm gonna crash and burn. They can't keep staying in the mansion. It makes perfect sense that he's taken a more proactive, stealth like approach. Keeping the X-Men down low so they can act under the radar of the Intiative is the only way they keep doin what they do.

As for Claremont and New Exiles, it's never been an X-Book and never has reflected the status quo of the main books. Plus, Claremont just isn't a capable writer to right now, his style does not fit anymore.

My older half-sister is Baptist.

<snip>Oh yeah, that and I've learned to hate the voice actor playing Graydon Creed. He's always like "MYUTANTS SUCK! NYAAAA!" Just a really whiny, nasally voice. He's a half step from "DEY TOOK UR JERBS!"

It took me awhile, but I think that last word = "jobs".

Thanks for the links! I'd forgotten that episode. I shall try to forget that voice as quickly as possible.

Captain America #36: Just flat out one of the best books being published. Brubaker kicks so much ass and these last page cliffhangers are killer.

Thor #7: Another good issue. Get to delve into Thor's daddy issues. The art was flat out amazing. If he can keep a monthly schedule, give him a book. X-Book preferably.

Captain Marvel # 4 of 5: Decent issue. Really wondering exactly who he is.

Amazing Spider-Man #554: Not bad. Much better than last issue. Kinda a quick warp up w/ Freak, but fun stuff w/ JJJ.

What are they, teasing that he might not be the real Marv?

Yea.

They get some skrull captured and Marvel of course is in there talking to him and the skrull says he is a brainwashed sleeper agent disguised to look like Marvel. They apprently arranged his memories like so to make him think he is really Captain Marvel. He asks him why, if he has lung cancer he isn't coughing or feeling sick? Marvel flips out and kills the Skrull.

Frankly, that would be a better idea than having it be the real Marv.

I wasn't one of the ones who was deadset against him coming back, but silly me, I thought they might have had a plan for him. They've done NOTHING with the guy.

Well the way it's being kinda set up is that he probably is a Skrull, but he's bought into the brainwashing and memory implants SOOOOOOO much that even if he finds out he is a Skrull and they try and reactivate him, he'll probably still fight against them.

Thor was fantastic. I read #1 and haven't read anything since then, but I picked this up today and was just...in love with it pretty much.

I've not read Captain America yet but plan on it after a new arc begins..speaking of which..does anyone know when it does?

This issue was technically the end of the current arc...but really Bru has been telling one large story since #25.

When you take into account Mar-Vell's origin, that's actually a really neat idea.

Well there is one other thing about the issue and I'm not sure I really understood what they were going for i've only read it once but :

a team goes to the moon the original Mar-vell is buried on. They have some kind of weird time displacement device...not sure what it does, but they open up his casket. We don't see what is in it. Can't tell if the REAL Mar-vell was originally a Skrull or if the device they have is suppose to read the original body and decide if there is somekind out of time replacement...like I said I don't know. But it's interesting.

A friend of mine did a report on my accent at another forum.

The B.O.N.E.R. Report (V. 2)

Andy is the total package. He has the Chateau Lafite of voices. I'd bang him for talking. It's the goal of this report to detail and highlight why I think Andy is a sexpot, and why his voice makes me want to e-do him.

C L A R I T Y

When Andy says "blond" it sounds like "pond." And he mumbles, a lot. He's really Irish. And pie-eyed. I bet the church likes him. He should be a phone sex operator. His mumbling is really cute. Sometimes, it sounded like he bit his tongue really hard.

But I'd bite it harder. Because I hate tongues. But his is, like, the best.

4/5

C O N T E N T

Limited to commentary. But one time he said my name. And I totally fell apart. It was so much better than when I say it.

He never sang, but he played music. Also, he didn't rap because he was embarrassed, but I squeeled because he'd make a good rapper.

3/5

S P E E D

He won the race. Andy talks so fast. To the max. I've never heard someone talk like that when they were sober. I give him props. And a losing game of Krampack. You know what I mean?

It was slower than, like, Collin Farrell. But Collin Farrell doesn't count. So Andy was the fastest.

5/5

A C C E N T

As an American and a patriot, this was the best. He was way more Irish than I thought he'd be. And even though "European bourgeois" would've been SO good -- he still knocked it out of the park with the bad words, and the anger, and huskiness. And the sarcasm.

He's such a hunk. :-[

5/5

C L O S I N G

Andy is a lot of man. He's so much more man than he has any right to be. And his voice is cute, and I think he's timid, and more than Irish novelty. He's a fox.

And sort of the best. <3''

Im flattered.
