It doesn't reveal much, but it does appear that X-Factor won't play a big role in Quicksilver's story, unless they appear somewhere in his damaged psyche.
They shouldn't have announced the Layla Miller one shot yet! I was psyched for the X-Factor: The Quick and the Dead, but now all I can think about is Layla beating young Lucas with her umbahrella.
I miss her so! :o

While a Layla one-shot will be nice, we wouldn't need a one-shot if she would just come back into the dang book already. :/

At least it makes things even a little more up in the air. Layla isnt there to even be helpful in a cryptic way.

I am so much more looking forward to the Layla story than the Quicksilver one! Her absence has definitely been missed, hopefully they're gearing her up for something with this. I love that butterfly effect issue of X-Factor! So friggin cool!!!

Already? It's been two months. ;)
Believe me, I want her back too, but we have to allow some time for the story arc to play out. Robin and Impulse were gone from PAD's Young Justice for months, the book was still strong. (Although yeah, it was great when they finally returned.)

It looks like X-factor is going to be seeing alot of Pietro, maybe he hired Arcade.

These two don't need one-shots. They need to star in a limited series together.
Looking forward to the Layla one, be interesting to see if she an Bishop team up.

Then the book would become Celebrity Deathmatch.

Layla would pwn Pietro every time!

I'm wondering if she's going to team up with Shard ..

Well, that's one of the interesting things about Layla—she doesn't suffer. No matter how miserable everything is that's happening around her, she rises above it because she has this Zen-like attitude. In order to suffer, one must be in the here and now, to not be able to look beyond it. Layla is always able to look beyond it, to take herself out of the moment.
Sounds great, I'm in :)

i'll be picking up both. it's a shame that pad couldn't expand on pietro's abilities from son of m, but who knows what he'll have in store for pietro down the line.
I'll buy both of these specials since they are linked to PAD's X-Factor.

I'm glad to see that PAD's getting rid of the wonky time-travel "flash-forward" powers of Quicksilver's. Aside from not really fitting with the character and his chosen codename, they were just... weird. Let's hope we get our speedster back during the course of this one-shot.

Yea i'm super-pissed that he didn't keep his powers. There was a lot of potential there.

Me, too. And like PAD, I got what they were but at the same time I didn't.
It was very wtf. I wish the crystals stayed around longer. That seemed like a story that could've been milked for a little more.

I think they could have mixed his time-jumping powers with his speed. Like the Barry Allen Flash and the Speed Force.

Ostrander and Edkin introduced a future version (http://www.comicscommunity.com/boards/ostrander/?frames=n;read=2516)of Quicksilver (Nestor) come back to help Pietro develop his powers (http://www.comicscommunity.com/boards/ostrander/?read=2522) further. I'm very surprised David Hine didn't follow up with this when he developed the "flash forward" power, actually.
It doesn't sound like they were necessarily going to have him be a time traveler due to his speed, which I thought would be interesting at the time. In retrospect, though, I'm of the mindset that he works best as a speedster, not a time jumper. Which thankfully, seems to be PAD's opinion (and Ostrander and Edkin's as well (http://www.comicscommunity.com/boards/ostrander/?read=2522). I still wish they'd gotten a chance to continue their series and do more with the character.)

Pietro is great as a speedster but I just think the whole thing that happened to him post-House of M was interesting. Particularly the way he had become so powerful and there's several things that could be be further exploited with these powers. For one thing his powers could have made him the equal of his father and Pietro could have become an interesting powerhouse villain. The only problem I had was they disregarded his speed completly. While Hine SHOULD have made the connection. "Former speedster now becomes infinitly more powerful by breaking the barrier of time with his speed". Now I just feel it's a missed opportunity to have him loses his powers again if PAD ever does that.
