no, I THINK your using that word cause everyone else is.

Who else used the term "pornographic?" And no, Aaron's using the word perfectly fine here. Pornographic, "obscene writings, drawings, photographs, or the like, esp. those having little or no artistic merit." This was obscene writing and drawing with no artistic merit.

As far as the Kory thing goes, I don't see how anyone can blame Judd for writing that scene the way he did, even before he touched the character her um personality was established, and the side narration of Starfire explained it even more.

It tried to justify it. And who else are we going to blame for continuing to treat Starfire's character merely as a pile of tits.

Y'know, she's shown up completely naked recently, too, in 52. And whoever wrote those scenes didn't have her jawing about how prudish humans were and blah blah blah, because it was unnecessary to address the subject of her nudity in anything but passing. Because whoever wrote that scene has more maturity in one panel of comics than Judd has in a lifetime career in them.

All these questions are answerable. What is annoying is that, by shortcutting the writing of the first issue, most of them aren't. If this is to be the pattern of the mag, it suggests that the writer just can't be bothered to make the details make sense and that is going to be an ongoing distraction from my enjoyment. I'll give it a couple of more issues but it needs to get better quick.

You do have a point there and I did notice it but I guess by the time they got to the revelation I was already in awe so it slipped my mind to question any of it. LOL in this respect Judds performance worked. I wonder do writers even like writing Cyborg, it feels like if a writer can glance over him, they will in favor of something else. :( Poor Cyborg.

Have you ever seen any pornography? Becase lieing in the sun naked does not equal pornagraphic, no matter how much you try and twist that it was.

Hey! I know it when I see it! If that rule's good enough for some asshat senator, it's good enough for me! Also, the internet is a series of tubes.

It tried to justify it. And who else are we going to blame for continuing to treat Starfire's character merely as a pile of tits.

Wait.. there's character behind the pile of tits? Bah. What's the point. Once you have the tits, you've already got your audience.

Amen to that. Like I said, when did Starfire become lefty snooty America bashing Eurotrash?

Meanwhile, I was joking to my comic shop guy that Winick was a diry lefty pinko liberal ruining America's family values. Then he joked back that I should go join him because I voted for Obama.

Actually, there's the ticket! Obama & Starfire's tits '08.

(What? It's okay if Judd's immature about nudity and sex in the actual comic but I can't make asshat statements on the boards? )

Raven, Donna and Supergirl didn't have large knockers? Could it maybe have something to do with the crazy 6'4 or something height that Kory has that makes a artist like Churchill put larger boobs on her than say Raven?

arent people normally naked when they sunbathe?

Actually, no. They're in bathing suits.

and since you dont know you know wally is from earth.

I knew that, but apparently you didn't to compare him being naked in the shower to someone naked outside as if anyone, anywhere bathes with clothes on.

were you complaining when wally was bed hopping when his title first came out too....

Were we treated to gratuitous shots of him being naked while he was doing so? No. Mike Baron didn't need everyone naked to convey that aspect of Wally's personality. Winnick is incapable of doing the same for Starfire.

Only in America will you get pages upon pages on a pair of covered up breast, and barely a mention about a barbequed kid gorily impaled though the chest on a treebranch
Edit: (well, and maybe some countries like Iran...)

I picked it up on Friday but due to other responsibilities I have yet to read it. It is the next issue I have up to read. I am interested to see how they start this run.

Obviously I was using the word pornographic in a broad sense. I meant that the scene in question had no purpose other than arousing the reader's sex instincts.

Who gets their sexual instincts aroused by a drawing of a chick sunbathing nude though? On all fours, leaning her arm around near her ass, suggestively rubbing sun cream into the back of her thighs, maybe, but sunbathing??

Sigh. Sadly, this is true.

Despite being a fan of these characters, I won't buy it.
I don't like Churchill's pencils at all, as I already said in another topic, and while I don't despise Winick (I actually liked the first part of his GA run a lot, and liked the Red Hood storyline on Batman), he's not one of those writers whose name alone makes me willing to give a book a chance, regardless of the artist.

If an artist I like jumps on board, I might pick it up at least for a story-arc. So far, I'm not interested.

Oh I'm all for the boobs. Actually, look at the hypocraciesy of the comic. Starfire complains that Americans are prudish about nudity and they should accept their bodies. Then DC fails to show the goods and covers up the nudity in the book with shadows.

I don't think people have a problem with the nudity itself. It's the immature and downright whiny way it's portrayed. That is what people have a problem with. Hell, the previous issue, and even saying that is weird because this is a number one issue, had a joke about a guy jerking off in a girl's hair. Is this Titans or American Pie?

Actually, I think the complaints about that issue also complained about the sudden violent gore that befell Power Boy.

That is what people have a problem with. It's a book about colourfully and exotically dressed teenagers sttling matters of good and evil mostly by beating each other up. It's kinda the right place for some immaturity. There is absolutely nothing wrong with one superhero book that comes right out and says:"Yes, this book is kinda a bit immature. Deal with it;"

Actually, I think you just described Gen 13, not the current Titans book. Nevermind that they're a bit more mature in this title, but I don't think they were too immature even as teens.

That was in part one of the story, in the Titans East special. Maybe it wasn't her hair, but Hawk implied she was washing off bodily fluids from Power Boy who had made her dress up as Supergirl. Just.. creeeeeepy.

for the JERICHO fans, from what I have heard, even though sean seems to have forgotten all about the character, Judd has not

Just.. creeeeeepy.I think you're completely misreading that. Dove strongly implied that magickly turning into Hawk is normally as good as any shower to get rid of sweat and other bodily fluids (very handy, that), it's just that Power Boy made Hawk feel dirty on an emotional level.

It's been a while and maybe I've been tainted living in a post Lewinsky and post Something About Mary world, but I'm pretty sure there was a semen joke in that Teen Titans book.

I will agree that the teen titans book has fallen since johns got off it but lets not forget he basically ended his run with the worst arc for teen titans ever(or just dialogue)thats right his titans east arc. Titans is written by winnick so you should already have known what you were getting(sex and bad dialogue) although his run on outsiders was really good. Also have you been reading teen titans lately sean's new arc is really well written.

I don't agree that Teen Titans has gone bad since Johns left it. It went bad from One Year Later. The book never really got over losing superboy. The emotional hook was the Tim/Conner friendschip and the Conner/Cassie romance.
With Conner dead, the book sort of collapsed and it still hasn't even started to recover. Adding a whole lot of derivative no-name characters didn't help either. Captainette Atom? Martian Manhuntress? Zatanna Jr.?

Also, I can't be the only one to find Kid Devil the single most annoying character in comics right now, can I?

He was no more annoying than animated Beast Boy. :)
