View Full Version : Why haven't the Avengers tried to find Quicksliver or his sister?

I have often wonder, ever since House of M, why have we seen the Avengers trying to find Quicksliver and/or the Scarlet Witch and try to convince them to come back to the team ? :(

Because they're evil?
In Quicksilver's case, they know where he is; in Wanda's case, she seemingly can only be found when she wants to be (and perhaps they've just decided to leave well-enough alone).

Well, Wanda went nuts, resulting in the worst thing to happen to the Avengers in a little-known tale called "Avengers Disassembled." And Quicksilver went nuts, abusing Wanda's powers to recreate reality, resulting in the un-mutanting of all but 198 mutants (in the equally under-the-radar miniseries "House of M.")
So yeah, I wonder why they wouldn't want those two around.:)
Seriously, though, New Avengers #26 is a wonderful issue that has Hawkeye on a global quest to find Wanda that doesn't end exactly as he had expected. Her story is definitely going somewhere big down the line (though maybe not until after Secret Invasion - or maybe smack-dab in the middle of it!)
If I were Tony, I'd honestly try to locate Wanda just to see if she were any kind of threat. He's got the resources to do it, and she's frankly not that well hidden.
But if she's powerless, I suppose she's not a huge priority.

How do they (or we) know if Wanda is truly, permanently powerless? Her reality altering ability became so great that she could certainly make it appear that she has no powers left when in fact she still does.

Good questions. How about, why aren't the X-Men looking for them?

yeah makes more sense that the X-men would look for them rather then the Avengers.

The X-Men, or rather Beast, already did find her.

Yeah, I imagine that's the big pay off that marvel is waiting for. I think Young Avengers being delayed basically put finding Wanda on hold.
We basically know where she already is, and what she's up to because of Clint. So I suppose there's no rush.

Everyone's been in a constant state of flux the last few years, I guess they simply haven't gotten around to it. Select characters have, but it's going to take a whole team to properly address the situation.
And Pietro isn't winning any fans with his latest actions.

Totally. I never thought about it that way before.

What do you guys mean when you say Young Avengers is on hold? I just figured it was cancelled.

Well actually it wasn't not exactly. I think that Marvel was just waiting for the creator Allan Heinberg to come back to the book, but since he hasn't come back it seemed as if the book was cancelled.
But Marvel hasn't given up on those kids yet. Right now they started a six issue mini spotlighting each of the individual members of the team, each issue is being done by different artists and writers, this is possibly Marvel having try-outs for the book, seeing how different different people handle the characters and how fans respond to people other than Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung.
And sometime in the summer the Young Avengers are teaming up with the Runaways for a three issue Secret Invasion tie-in with yet another artist and writer.
So it seems that Marvel may have given up on waiting for Heinberg to come back and write his "season two" of the Young Avengers series. But the book is definitely not cancelled.

If shes not it's better to find other priorities anyway. who could stand a chance if she decided to alter them out of reality.

Well Pietro got his butt handed to him by Layla in X-Factor 23. This is why villains are morons - stop with the monologuing and just kill your arch-enemy already! Or if you find your arch-enemy drowning in the river, just leave her there. But I digress.
The Quicksilver one-shot in May will explain more about his current personal hell.
And I am so waiting for the next YA Presents...first week in April is the Wiccan/Speed story right?

I thought it was the last week of March. Damn it, they pushed it back a week?

The X-Men, or rather Beast, already did find her.
By Beast being an X-Man AND an Avenger, both teams found her by default when he did.
Still, I'd like to think you kind of walk away from meeting the current incarnation of Wanda Maximoff rubbing your head, and wondering if it was really real or not. In the end, something inside you decides to leave well enough alone, and not look back.
And if you're Hawkeye, you can still grin, realize that you're come back from the dead twice, and totally got to shag Magneto's daughter rotten. There's always that.
I just read somewhere that in Secret Invasion the key to stopping the Skrulls rests in the hands of the person which you would least want it. Wanda may be a good possibility.

I'm hoping that next time that we see Wanda she's got a little Barton baby bump.

With Tony's Avengers chasing after the New Avengers, it's pretty impossible to do it all.
Of course, the X-Men aren't doing much either in trying to maintain control over Wanda.

Yes--very true!
I remember he said something in Son of M about not knowing where she was- - and that seemed to be the extent of his concern for her whereabouts.

spider-man sought out pietro in son of m 1. i'd assume he told the other new avengers about his whereabouts. s.h.i.e.l.d. knows, too.

And the X-Men know also know about Pietro. David is doing a great job with him in X-Factor.

I wouldn't say the X-Men know..Jamie Madrox and X-Factor knows..That's about it. If the X-Men (Emma, Scott...etc) knew, then they'd probably go after him...

It happened around X-Factor 8 or 9.

True, thanks. I started reading with the Presents mini, so I picked up most of the original series. Don't have issues 2 or 3 though, so I can't finish until then. :) I'm just excited about seeing Vision again.

Cyclops warned Jamie that Quicksilver was now his problem and if he didn't take care of the situation, the X-men would be back.

Quicksilver is more of a villian now than an Avenger, and they have no use for him on the team.
In Wanda's case, they probably still think she's an unstable schizophrenic.
