I'm looking for a recommendation for a large format scanner for scanning comic book pages. I need a scanner that will work with Mac OS Leopard, and preferrable won't cost me $1000... not sure if that's possible, but any information would be really appreciated. Thanks!

You might consider getting a nice digital camera and some halogen lights. I use a XILM and it works just fine... is faster too.

really its not that hard to scan halfs and merge. blue line pro has written a very cool "how to" that is incorporated into their how to color book written a while back.

the cost on a large format scanner is still pretty prohibitive. My brother who was working at a large computer outlet store said that they ran between 1500 and up when I last checked

i own one of these. it's great if your work is b&w...haven't scanned any color work, though.

I use a Mustek. I believe they just came out with a new one that has support for OSX but do some research and maybe even call Mustek directly. I scan colors with it. It doesn't handle reds well but its good enough for the internet.

I have the Mustek and it is OK -- not as good as the Canon I have, but it DOES handle the large sizes. Someone had a blog entry that described how to get it working with OSX. Not being an Apple-Head, I don't have the link but I'm sure you can find it with some searching.
