I know that image gives you creative control, but what about vertigo and wildstorm. And Im not talking about books with company owned characters, I just want to if you they accept creater owned material. Thanks.

Are you saying that you have material you want to submit?

Most of what Vertigo publishes is creator-owned.

Vertigo and Wildstorm both publish creator-owned material. But Wildstorm has more of a history of editorial interference (for example, dropping "The Boys" desspite strong sales). Karen Berger at Vertigo seems to have had enough success that she's relatively free to do what she wants.

But she isn't a creator and isn't it rather Shelly Rosenbergsomething that edits the line now?

Karen Berger is a Senior VP and Executive Editor of Vertigo. Shelly Bond is also an editor, as well as Group Editor, if I recall the title correctly. Shelly also edits the Minx line.

I think "creative control" and "creator owned" are two different things.

In the case of offensive material, if they got sued, it's DC that would've had been hit. So they're in their right to refuse to publish those stories.

As for creative control, my guess is you don't get carte blanche and they review scripts but the only people who can answer you are writers who've worked there.

Yes they do accept creator-owned concepts, but they own all publishing rights, usually for a set time period (depends on the contract). This protects them if the creator attempts to publish through multiple publishers (which can damage sales for the publishers involved).
You retain the rights to the projects (movie rights are seperate, you own those usually), but you can't reprint them even if they decide to give your series the axe (like whats happening with Exterminators, the writer is forced to wrap up the series, since Vertigo aren't allowing him to just continue it elsewhere).

Editorial interference seems minimal, but most publishers have some clear ground-rules (depiction of sex for example)

Otherwise, if you're thinking of sending them a pitch, don't bother unless if somebody there has asked you to (most publishers don't accept non-solicited pitches or products).
