It is Magneto's hand. That's what his gauntlets look like on his new Ultimate costume. I think it's safe to say that we now know that he's the one who throws down the Ultimatum, which is cool IMO. After all, he seems to the be the #1 villain in the Ultimate Universe and is in fact the whole reason that the Ultimates were put together.
Having said that, I would like to see Doom take more of a high-profile role in this event as well. He has always kind of been the #1 villain in the 616 Marvel Universe, so it would be nice to see him become more of a threat in the Ultimate U as well.
Regardless, with Dave Finch doing the artwork I will definitely be checking this out. I just hope it's better than Ultimates 3.

So Magneto is going to attempt to destroy the UU? just like he tried to do before? what happened to a new plan, Erik??? Magneto doing the same thing again, and written by Loeb to boot....sigh. I'll just wait for more details. Hopefully there's something more interesting to it than that.

That'd suck because the Ultimate U is completely separate from 616 and that's how it SHOULD be.
If I want 616 then I'll read 616.

That's a good question! I haven't read any of Carey's run and, having dropped UXM a while back, I don't read any other Ultimate book other than USM (unless it's by Ellis or Card haha). Anyway, that's a good question, that's my point. Ultimate Doom. (Ha I just had a flash of that Greg Land picture of him on his throne surrounded by the Marvel Zonmbies. OMG I just read this about Ultimatum on the net. It's an interview with Loeb. Here's a quote:
"OK, so Ultimatum boils down to the repercussions that take place when Magneto finds out he has a new power that he never knew existed. I really wanted to call it "Ultimatium: Big" like my color books, but everyone thought Ultimatum was ultimately (no pun intended) more marketable. See he can now grow really big, so big in fact that the earth is the size of his fist. Of course he immediately crushes the earth, and the heroes now have to deal with the aftermath of floating into space and bumping into each other. I spoke with Mark (Millar) and we laughed because this was the direction he was taking the Ultimates in. The story starts in the middle, with everyone just floating there and then little details will be revealed. It's a mystery. You're not putting this on the web are you?"

Ha. Ahaahah.
Kirkman did a rubbish Apocalypse (well...so far), Ellis...misjudged? Galactus. I can't really think of a threat big enough to kickstart Ultimatum. That said, the line did start out being more realistic and grounded, so I have no problem with Magneto returning and chucking stuff about. Just don't give him the power cosmic or anything. Captain Universe, no.
Maybe it'll be the Beyonder. Or Howard the Duck. Or Stan Lee reorganising the Ultimates line into the 60s 616.

If the hand is Magneto's, I suspect Doctor Octopus may be somehow connected given events in the clone saga.
I was rereading the Clone Saga from Ultimate Spider-Man today, and it occurred to me that Doctor Octopus's control over metal (which led to some criticizing the development as making him into a knock off of Magneto) may have intentional links to Magneto's abilities.
In the story, Otto says the only difference between the Fantastic Four and himself is that they got their powers by accident. So I'm wondering if Octavius found a way to duplicate Magneto's powers before his accident in the first arc of Ultimate Spider-Man.
Magneto's playing a big role in both Ultimates 3 and Ultimatum, given the glove on the cover, so anyone who duplicated his powers may be a key player. Ultimate Origin, which ties into Ultimatum is supposed to reveal secrets of the Ultimate Universe, so I suspect Otto Octavius replicating Magneto's powers may play a role in both events.

Ultimate Spider-Man #24, Nick Fury warn Peter how dangerous Norman was (didn't mention Magneto being a threat).
Norman form a attack on the white house.
Turn his own son into a monster.
Magneto wasn't the greatest villain when the UU started. He only got one break, then Xavier block his mind. And once the block was remove he went into a S.H.I.E.L.D. containment center after another lucky break. After escaping from that, he did nothing--untill now.

Well i'm a huge USM and i refuse to further explain why Magneto is without any doubt a much much greater threat to Ultimate Earth than Norman Osborn (especially since i'm a Osborn fan and regulary hate UXM and Magneto) and i think carabas already explained it perfectly:
The Goblin escaping means a bunch of SHIELD soldiers will probably die. Magneto escaping means civilisation as we know it, and our continued existance as a species are is in danger.
And if you go for who the greatest USM villain is, it's without any doubt Doc Ock for me, i think the Clone Saga made it pretty clear, i mean he has completely destroyed every aspect of Peter’s life.

Man forget Victor Van Damme matter of fact forget calling him Dr.Doom realisticly he's no Dr.Doom. I do have hopes he can turn into a Mr.Fear type of character. When I say Mr.Fear I don't mean have him show everyone their worst fear I mean the fear that was recently shown in DareDevil. Having no fear in himself and becoming more innovative in his mystic moves. I really feel that Victor could become a great sorceror supreme and take on big monsters or demons.

I feel like Fury warned Pete of Osborn because Osborn was dangerous of becoming something of a Magneto level threat. He could create his own super soldiers from the OZ formula and an army of Spidermen or Goblins can be dangerous. Nick Fury was in the process of stomping on threats like that(its his job afterall), hence he had spiderslayers in case Parker went el loco. The CIA even felt that making spidey clones might be able to combat SHIELD/Ultimates in case they went rogue.
So in any case, Osborn isn't a threat like Magneto is, but potentially could be.

The Ultimates 3, Ultimate Human and Ultimate Iron Man II will have finished, no other minis have been announced, the Ultimates 4 is up in the air, the origins of the Ultimate universe are being explained and there's no word of life after Ultimatum...
It's pointing out something everyone has already realised but now it's looking particularly grim.
They aren't going to announce anything new untill Ultimatum is out.

My God... lmfao...
I think this post is the hardest I've ever laughed at anything on this forum. Nice man, nice.
