Agreed. The return of Manhunter may balance out the loss of Rucka's Checkmate for me as far as my DC monthlies go.

Yes :D

Manhunter was by far best new dc hero/heroine when it was realesed, its easy my favorit street level dc comic.

Even if June feels like many months left, its better than being canceled.

I love it this was my favorite series for a while until the hiatus. I am really excited.

With Countdown ending and no plans on picking up Trinity, I'll be adding this to my pull list, along with Jonah Hex. However, should I go back and get issues #1-30? I can usually find back issues for cheap on eBay, but is the hunt worth it, or would gleaming information of the character off of Wiki and Google be enough?

Thanks, Manhunter fans, and congrats on your character's book's return. I look forward to checking it out.

I'd thoroughly recommend getting the back issues of Manhunter, if you can do so without it being a monstrous hassle or expense. Those are some really good reads and a lot of the details, humor, and so forth won't come across in a Wiki/Google summary.

I highly recommend getting the back issues too. This series really is one of the best put out by DC. I think most all of them are easy to get with the exception of the Identity Crisis tie-in.

What's Manhunter about?

Its an interesting take on street level hero.

A lawyer by the day and a vigilante by night is pretty cool. Plus its more realistic than most street level comics cause what Kate does when she has the suit on.

The best thing is the writing, the humor. Kate has some golden lines that always makes me chuckle.

I dont want to ruin it for you, just try an issue or two and see for yourself.

I only wish there is a new very good artist. The art was lacking most of the time in first 30 issues. The coloring hurt my eyes sometimes...

I heard so much praise for the series, picked up the last 5 issues after it was "extended" and was vastly disappointed. I'll pick a couple issues up again to give it a go, but it better be worth it.

Why in the world would you pick up the last issues ?

You have to understand who she is with the first issues and her origin and not try the last issues of the series.

Its like going to the cinema and watching a praised movie only the last 10 minutes of 2 hour movie and then getting dissapointed cause it didnt live up to its name.

Not necessarily. There's plenty of characters who I'm not familiar with origin wise or whatever, but the story can still attract me and the character can still be fun. It shouldn't matter how far down the series is, the character and story should be engaging. I never felt that with Manhunter.

Sounds good I'll pick it up.

So whats her origin?

Yeah but Manhunter is a new series with a character that has never appeared in another comic.

Its not someone you have heard of before and then tried the latest issue of his/her series.

Reading a storyline that in the last issues that has been building over 20 issues is not for fair against the series. Manhunter was actually rare cause almost every 5-6 issues storyline was about things that happened in the storyline before.

IMO seeing the short history of Kate Spencer as Manhunter you have to judge her by the first arc or two not the last arc of a series that "was" canceled.

I see. I might have to go back and pick up the trades then. I liked the whole idea of the character, it just didn't really deliver what I was hoping. So guess I'll put that down on my TPB's to buy list and give it a better try.

Will be interesting how you like then.

Also you are very lucky. When i wanted to try the series there were no trades and LCS had trouble getting the single issues for me.

Wow, that's a very unexpected and generous offer, Marc. One I've already taken you up on through PM.:) Thank you very much.

With all the good things I've heard about Manhunter, it's one series I've regretted not jumping on from the get-go. Now that it's starting up again I feel a great incentive to get on board. I'm usually a back-issues hunting kind of fellow, but I'll look into what other trades are available and if they're complete, I'll go that route instead, if for no other reason than to show my support for the title with my dollar.

Thanks again, Marc.

Hopefully Mahunter is made interesting again. Towards the end I liked all her supporting cast more than her. Only thing I think was cool about her was the whole concept behind where she got her costume parts.

Good news, indeed. I've been waiting for the return since the series went on hiatus. I think it's great that DC is supporting this title so much. Often times the good comics have to make way for crap.

I'm on board, for a little while at least. I was curious about the series before, but didn't get into it because it looked like it was winding down.
