I don't know why this seems likes such a blow, but it really makes me greave.... He was a great talent and put so much of himself in every single panel that he drew. The world is a little less bright...

I read this in an email and I couldn't believe it. What a sad, sad loss. I am lucky enough to have met Dave a couple times and he was always a pleasure to chat with (when he wasn't mobbed by other industry people at his booth). The Rocketeer was the comic that got me back into comics and Dave was the person I sought out when I went to my first "big" San Diego Con.

My plan is to do a limited edition ROCKETEER print that I will sell at
San Diego this year, with all proceeds (including sale of the original
art) to the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation, the organization Dave's mom
wanted any donations to be made to.

I'll also include a donation jarat my table so that folks can throw in
all that leftover money we have at SDCC! ;-)

Barring any legal problems, the print will be ready to go before the
con, so anyone interested in the one and only time I'll ever get to
draw the Rocketeer should save a few extra bucks, knowing that all the
money will go to a good cause.
