... Falling apart?
Shortly after, Dark Horse was kind of us to send us new ones.
Remember?
A couple months after that it was happening again, and so I put it on my shelf and forgot about it for a while, always saying I was gonna make a thread about it later.
I pulled it out again, to re read (Wow, I forgot how much I didn't like Byrne's script, doesn't mean it wasn't a good story though) and near the end, all the pages began to fall out.
Even funnier, I recently was given ANOTHER copy as a gift, and it too is beginning to fall apart.
My copies of Wake the Devil, Chained Coffin, Right Hand of Doom, and Conquerer Worm are on their last legs as well.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Me, I'm just going to by that hardcover coming out, with Seed of Destruction and Wake the Devil, and hope for the best.

I can't say any of my copies of any of the trades have had pages fall out. I've worn out some of the ink on the pages by thumbing through them over and over again. Your problem seems like some very unfortunate bad luck. I must say I was disappointed when the plastic coating on my collected Bone TPB (you could kill someone with it it's so big and heavy) started peeling off the cover for no apparent reason. Some of my Lone Wolf and Cub books are doing the same thing.
I too will probably buy the deluxe hardcover versions as I find it hard to resist the extra stuff that will no doubt be included with them.

Mine are all fine and i've had them since they were first released.
I even had someone accidentally spill a glass of water all over RHoD, which warped all the pages... but the next day when i went to throw it away there was no sign of warping and the book seemed to be pristine.

I've never had a problem with this, and I own multiple copies of various Hellboy trades in all kinds of formats- hardbound, soft, etc.
Sorry this is happening to you, but the problem seems somewhat limited in scope.

Are they in the sun at all when you store them? Or close to a radiator? I would imagine a lot of heat would cause trouble for the binding.
I've never had trouble with any Dark Horse trades, and I've got an awful lot of them.

I have had issue with one of my Goon trades. The cover fell off. I never bothered to write to DH though because it's got a Goon head sketch from Mr Powell in it.
Kind of hard to replace that :D

I've had no problems, certainly not with the DH trades. I have had the thumb thing though, with one of the Lankhmar PB's I believe. But that's cuz they're floppy yet thick and like hard to hold because of that.

In the summer, my room DOES get extremely hot, so maybe that's it.
Though, none of my other books, Goon, Watchmen, Spider-Man, etc, are all fine.
It's my Hellboys and B.P.R.D.s that seem to suffer the most.

The pages are bound with something that seems like hot glue. I had an almost new one fall apart several years ago when I was reading it on my balcony in direct sun. I plan on having a good look at the binding before I spend comparitevly bigger bucks on the hardcovers.

That'll do it. Leaving paperbacks in a car in the summer is also a surefire way to get a handful of loose pages and a cover (not that I...er...know that from experience or anything...).

My Seed of Destruction fell apart, and it's never been anywhere hot. Heck, I live in a town that's so foggy and gray we have an annual Fog Festival.
But I keep all my Dark Horse trades in a drawer now, just in case.

My copies of Right Hand of Doom and Wake the Devil are falling apart. RHOD is in four pieces right now D:
They were the copies I dragged around highschool all the time, though. And I live in a desert, so I suppose the extreme shifts in temperatures took their toll on the book binding.

I own every HB and BPRD trade, bought them each when they first hit shelves, read the hell out of them and they are all still fine. Most of them spent mucho time in my Geo Metro, parked on the roof of the parking garage here is sunny So Cal.
Caitlin....how have you been.?..it's been a while, glad that you are posting again:D

I know, I know, I am such a freaking flake. I seriously need to start focusing on the important things in life, like comics and the internet.
