Not off to a great start.

Why would Tonto tell the Ranger not to go try to save someone or to solve a crime?

It's what they do.

I've been a Lone Ranger & Tonto fan for at least 35 years now and am elated to have a comic on the stands.

There's not much to be gleaned from the preview, except the obvious, someone forgot to get the artwork inked!

Now I know that printing directly from pencils is all the rage these days but I'm just plain tired of it. It is the very reason I gave up the otherwise good Conan series from Dark Horse. I've long been a fan of the comic book inker and feel that his/her work is essential to the process. I'll continue to pass on uninked comics. Sorry.:(

I picked up the first issue of Dynamite's Lone Ranger series last year, but was underwhelmed. I've often wondered if I've made a mistake by not following it, but judging by everything I've seen and heard on it, I don't think that I have.

I've been following the Lone Ranger series since issue #1 and have loved each and every issue since. The only complaint I have is the schedule (or lack thereof).

As for this one-shot, some panels look really good. Some, not so much. A big departure from Sergio Cariello's work on the main book. I will agree that this artwork would have benefited from an inker. I hadn't realized direct-from-pencils coloring was a big trend. I actually like the look on the Project Superpowers series (the first I had seen it), but here it just doesn't look right.

I eagerly read "The Lone Ranger & Tonto" #1, and was giving it a passing grade until page 9 when the Lone Ranger exclaims "CHRIST." When Fran Striker and George W. Trendle created the Lone Ranger they drew up a list of rules which embody who and what the Lone Ranger is, and one of those guidelines is "At all times, The Lone Ranger uses perfect grammar and precise speech completely devoid of slang and colloquial phrases."

My Lone Ranger doesn't cuss, and neither should Matthews', Abrams' and Guevara's Lone Ranger.

Keep the fans...lose the slang.

I've only read the first 3 issues. I thought the same about the first issue, i was underwhelmed.....The second issue I remember being pretty good, though.

Third issue was a slight let-down......I'll try out the 4th issue soon, and if I don't like it, I won't bother with any more of this series.

Zorro, on the other hand, I liked the 1st issue quite a bit and am hoping the rest of the series is as good (Or better).

ah, it seemed okay. I flipped through it, but decided against it. and it looked okay, the issue of 'non-inking' didn't bother me at all, I just felt no need for a comic with 2 characters already in the Lone Ranger comic.

The premise was pretty good, but the story just died near the end. Too many pages of them tracking the kid, I think. Somewhere in there, I think, is an okay 22-page comic, maybe even a little longer. But making it 32 pages was just too much. Also, I don't mind grim and gritty, but something about the Lone Ranger and Tonto just seemed off to me.
