I've said a few times already that the suit Batman wore in the "Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul" storyline was going to play a part in Final Crisis, since it was shown and in the teaser from months back and similar authors are working on both storylines.
I'm wondering after reading 'Tec #842, which for some reason focuses a lot on the origins of the suit, if the new costume change might be to this suit? Morrison has said that Batman will "never be the same" and that there will be a change in the costume. There seems to be an emphasis on this suit, and I'm wondering if there's going to be more stuff involving it.
Also, as a side note, any speculation on the hints to Azrael? There's the St. Dumas reference, and then obviously the suit that brings out your aggresive side. Also Az appears on the cover of "Underground." At least his suit does.

I was wondering the same thing. Obivously his image on the teaser poster is very Batman and the Knights of the Roundtable. He got through the agression issue way too fast for me in 'Tec. I really thought that should have played into a two issue story arc.
There is absolutely something here and after we get to the end we are going to look back and see it was obvious but right now I cannot pull it all together.

I just subscribed to Detective Comics after a long hiatus from the series. Is #842 worth it?

Yep... and so are all the Paul Dini issues. You should track em down.

Typically it is a bunch of good one shot stories but I am intrigued to think this ties in to something bigger.

I love done-in-ones. I think it takes more skill to write a good done-in-one than to write a huge story arc.
I enjoyed #841. It reminded me of the Dixon era Batman of elementary school.

Perhaps it was rushed here because there's more to come in Final Crisis. This issue might just serve as an introduction to what is going to come in the future.
Peter Milligan's Batman Annual lead in, this issue of Detective and the follow up single issue by Paul Dini were the best reading in the whole Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul story line and they were not even part of the crossover.
Very odd.
Considering that Grant Morrison seems to be playing off so many older Batman stories, this might be setting up something playing off the old golden age story about the 'league of Batmen'.

I'm with you on the one and done issues. I think when older comics really were cooking you could have creators that could build one issue stories off of each other and eventually come back to perhaps a thread left on a single story from a few issues beforehand.
There are way too many story lines in modern comics where they stretch storys over issues for no good reason. I can get into the whole wide screen splash page after splash page kind of modern stories, but sometimes it is so wasteful. That recent Ra's storyline is an example of some bloated storytelling, you could about take what was there and edit it down to about to about half the size and it would have been better in the end. There was way too many bad ninja fights that wasted page after page in that story. The fight at Wayne Manor was really over the top and not in a good way.
Considering how many battles have been going down on the Wayne front yard in the past few years, from the battle with the pumped up Scarecrow a couple of years back to the ninja battle or the murder of Vesper Fairchild, you would think the neighbors would start complaining.
That might be a funny thing for a writer to point out or use as a plot point with one of his rich neighbors suing Bruce Wayne.

Hmm... and I thought the issue as pure filler... didn't think there was a bigger picture... just a, as you call it, done-in-one.

For some odd reason I believe this 'Tec is actually going to tie in back to the big picture.... could be wrong, just a thought.

Does Wayne even HAVE any neighbours? I would hazard a guess that he likely owns at least several acres out there, given that he's got the tunnels and the Batcave to conceal. He's a rich guy.

Do y'a think Wayne cuts his own lawn, or does he make Tim do it?

Bat-Mower....or
OMCC - One Mower Cutting Corps
It was a good read. The build up to his new suit during the Ra's run I thought was a bit weak. Oh well this issue made up for a lot. Good fun read, reminded me a bit of black spidey.

Just out of curiousity, did anyone actually read the original post? I see people talkign about bat-lawn mowers and reactions to the issue. I think Brik's the only one who actually said something relevant.

....OK if I am the one doing something right then we are all in trouble.
The more that I think about it the Order of Saint Dumas is just bothering me when you look at the teaser poster it really makes you wonder. There is something BIG that is going to tie into all of this.

You notice how DC just won't mention Azrael/Az-Bats? There are always references to Bane or Bruce's broken back, but it's like they jsut want to completely erase that character. The business with the suit altering ones' mind just screams Jean Paul Valley and yet Bruce won't say his name. I can't believe they actually had Az-Bats in the Bane origin in this week's Countdown.

Well, the character has been dead for years. Unles they plan to resurrect him, why bring him up?
Also, maybe they want to avoid bringing up a story about someone not Bruce Wayne being Batman because they're about to do a rerun of the concept?

Well why ignore that and bring up a bunch of other references to that era? Just look at IC as an example. You have Batman telling Bruce that he hasn't inspired anyone since he died, and then there's Bane talking about breaking people, and Prime's accusation that Hal is a hypocrite because he was once Parallex.
