For those of you who haven't kept up on the latest in the Bendis, Simone, and Morrison love triangle, or are like me and have a passing interest. Bendis just recently issued an apology (http://www.606studios.com/bendisboard/showthread.php?t=143922) on his message board. Now everything is unicorns and kittens and right with the world again. :D

Well, at least he apologized. I haven't been following the drama in its entirety, so if someone could fill me in, that would be nice.

Very gentlemanly of him to issue the apology... but a day late and a dollar short, IMO. It never should have escalated in the way that it did.

I thought the whole thing was more like wrestling banter more then anything else, and Gail and Brian have been needling each other for years.

What took place was more than needling on Bendis part and he knew it and is man enough to admit it and apologize. I have to give him credit also for making the apology public since he acted the fool so publicly. He could have saved faced and done it privately which I'm sure he probably has but he did it the right way in the end.

From what little I know,

Grant Morrison slammed Skrull invasion in an interview (honeslty could've been read either seriously or in jest)

Then Bendis responded slamming Morrison back, DC in general and brought in Gail's name. (again could be read in jest or seriously)

Ususal message board drama

Bendis apologizes

(again I haven't been following it closely, but thats the jist of what I got. So if anyone has a more complete explanation or I made a mistake, please feel free to correct/add to what I've said)

Something about Bendis saying Morrison was behind schedule on the Crisis thing (I don't read anything DC, so that's as close as I'm going to get), after Morrison said something or other about Bendis' work being lazy.

I think that was the gist of it. Don't know how Gail Simone got involved.

It's okay Kev. I hope I did not come across as pissy, that was not my intent. The intentions of the speaker are often lost, esp. when communicating online where you can't see facial expressions and view body language. I was just baffled by the lack of responses, but thank you for your clarification. And to everyone else for their answers. :)

Nice of him to apologize, but I wouldn't have bothered. Its gives the whole thing more legitmacy then it deserves.

As for what its about, check out Lying in the Gutters. Its basically the usual arguments you find on any message boards only it involved comic "names". Take their "fame" out of the equation and none of us would even notice or care.

Yeah... there's not much more backpeddling or weak than apologizing for a wrestling style promo. Unless Bendis is trying to be a mega-heel!

Oh, cut him some slack. The gears of good behavior move at different speeds for different folks. The important thing is that he doesn't feel good about what he said and hopefully will take some lessons away from it.

Meh. I thought the whole thing was kind of funny myself, and creators shitblasting each other doesn't really bother me. My thinking, if you're passionate about what you do, bad mouth everyone else who does. Because if we stopped doing that, no one would watch political debates anymore :p.

Seriously though, the whole thing is blown out of proportion. Like kingdom2000 said, replace the names "Bendis," "Morrison," and "Gail" with your average screen name and no one cares anymore.

While I don't really want to get into this whole thing right now, I will say something about the whole "Well, it's just regular msg board behavior" thing.

Pam Shriver, the women's tennis player, tells a story every once in a while that she was playing Kournikova, and these two English fans kept yelling "Hey! Horny-kova! Hey! Horny-kova!" throughout the match.

Now, while it might be obnoxious, childish behavior, it's not really the sort of thing that would truly offend someone familiar with sporting events.

On the other hand, if Martina Hingis referred to Anna as "Horny-kova" people would rightfully consider it utterly un-professional, and far over the line.

Basically, there's a difference between how a fan and how a professional are expected to act.
