The recent Buffy talk and past discussions about "normal" boyfriends with regard to female stars/superheroine seems to be that not many actually LIKE the normal boyfriend.

Is there ANY "normal" boyfriend in fiction with a more "powerful" (be it physical, or being simply the star) that a large majority of people actually liked?

I'm thinking of only two Wyatt Wingfoot (She-Hulk's longtime beau), and Wash from Serenity (and even there, many people preferred Zo with Mal and Wash himself isn't ordinary. He's an incredible pilot and considered something of a genius among other pilots).

Steve Trevor was one I really liked, actually. He was a decent gentleman, and I liked that, it seemed to fit with WW at the time. I dunno how it'd work now but at the time I liked it.

Slam Bradley as Catwoman's love interest for a time was actually pretty interesting to, though it worked better back when the book was more crime noir and less super heroic

Technically not boyfriends, but I've actually liked several of Batman's "normal" love interests too.

All I want is a normal boyfriend!

- We all want that dear, that doesn't exist.

I think Vaughn on "Alias" was fairly well liked by the fans, while the boyfriend of Sydney Bristow, who was an almost-but-not-quite superperson. Of course, he was also a good looking, multilingual, globe-trotting spy himself, so the difference wasn't a large one.

The closest one I can think of is Duncan Kane from Veronica Mars. Sure, he was the son of a multi billionaire, and he had his issues, but he was a hell of a lot nicer than drug using, homewrecking, Logan Echolls. Did I forget to mention how Logan was once accused of murder (though he was acquitted) and how he used poor Hannah Teeter to his advantage? Dear God, I hated the Logan and Veronica relationship.

Ah, a minority viewpoint but I originally liked Terry Long.

He seemed mellow, stable, and a good father to his daughter. Solid, responsible, able to take in all the supernatural elements in stride. (Of course, he was sleeping with Donna Troy, so....I imagine he was willing to be tolerant.) But, mostly, he seemed proud of her doing his thing without feeling too insecure about being normal.

Later on, it got all messed up, but I was really, really annoyed at the deaths of Terry and his two kids, especially when a divorce, I think, would have been more interesting and made for better storylines than angst and depression. Donna really isn't the best character for angst, in my opinion. The deaths seemed really unnecessary to me. Who wrote that, anyway?

IIRC, it was John Byrne that wanted to kill Terry and the kids in order to bring Donna back to Wonder Woman since she was dating Kyle Rayner at the time.
