Gotta say I'm loving the Laughing Magician arc so far! The shaman, responsible for binding Mnemoth way back when, had me awed when he started talking about the Laughing Magician through the centuries last issue. Now with the War Mage hot on John's tracks it's getting splendidly dangerous for any poor soul unlucky enough to both dabble in magic and be acquainted with old lovable conjob. I'm just now finally loving Manco's rendition of Constantine. He's been on the series for what feels like ages to me, but I'm finally feeling his magic.
Can't wait for the next issue!

I really felt that I've missed a lot by not reading this title. And your enthusiasm only piques my interest more.
I plan to start reading it with the next arc...

Diggle is channeling vintage Constantine to me at least. I fell off during the period Mina was writing the series. I heartedly recommend the Joyride trade that collects the first issues of Diggle's run. :)

Diggle rawks the casbah. I've always enjoyed his work. I'll take your advice. :)

HB 241 was another excellent issue from Diggle. I loved how John played the War Mage against the Hunger Hill cabal from the previous storyarc. A slick maneuver on his part and a good switch-up from the old "one of John's friends gets hurt/killed because of him" staple. As this time, it'll be someone John doesn't mind seeing get hurt.... :D

Manco's art is amazing; he's outdoing himself with the past two issues. The artwork is really atmospheric.
I like Diggles' take on Constantine but I'm not in love the past storyarcs. I have re-subbed to Hellblazer because of Diggle after dropping the book while Carey was onboard.

Another very good issue, yes. It's been a fun arc so far, made all the more fun/surreal by places I know popping up everywhere (Biggin Hill airport is just down the road from me, and I was born in Mayday Hospital!). If I've got one criticism it's that Glen Fabry's covers for the past three issues have been really poor, with #241's possibly being the absolute worst in the history of the comic, which is a great shame because I love his work usually. He did some wonderful covers back during Ennis's run and some of his Preacher covers are really quite iconic. Oh well. Very excited in seeing how it wraps up and for the The Mortification of Flesh two-parter, which sounds utterly aces.

You might also want to pick up the Joyride TPB which collects the first eight issues of Diggle's run (it'd almost get you up to date, too). Very highly recommended and great for new readers.

AGREED. Fabrys covers make me want to put the book back on the shelves. What was that character on the cover of 241?

Word !
I also fell of the series thanks to Mina but now Diggle and Manco has made me so excited with their stories. Laughing Magician is even better than the last arc.
Manco making JC look like trickster with his almost Joker big grin is too awesome.
In this issue JC sending Mako to that disgustingly evil minister was vingtage JC.

Are the new (recent) Hellblazer stories being collected in TPB ?
I stopped after the Ennis run years ago but I always liked the character . . .
Are there trades anyone would suggest picking up ??
Thanks :)

There are indeed! Apart from two less-than-stellar runs the title has been in damn good shape since Ennis departed. To get you started, I recommend the Haunted, Red Sepulchre and Joyride trades. Haunted was the first arc of Warren Ellis's very brief run on the title, and it's a terrific, intense tale of revenge. Red Sepulchre kicks off Mike Carey's brilliant run on the book and features two fantastic stories (one about a demonic presence in a council estate with art by Steve Dillon, the other a pretty action packed tale that kicks off Carey's big uber-arc - reading Haunted before it would be ideal because Carey expands on many elements Ellis introduced.), so if you like that you've got a few more to collect (http://tplist.millarworld.net/hellblazer.html), including the excellent, standalone All His Engines OGN. And Joyride, as I said above, collects the first eight issues of the current Andy Diggle run and is just as highly recommended.

Thank you . . I really appreciate it . . . I will track those down, I like Ellis a lot and I would imagine he fits the character pretty well . . .
