With issue 4, they start to reprint stories from marvels 1984 dr. who series, that lasted 23 issues. The printing is still a bit better then the first marvel issue, but, and this is a biggie, at a price of 3.99 a copy, how many fans who are willing to settle for slightly less quallity printing, will hit the back issue cheap bins, where one can still get these 23 issues, for around a buck a copy, or less? Im sure that the Tom baker run will last to the end, roughly another 8 issues, inasmuch as they are ignoring marvels back up non dr. stories.A small grip, when all that is needed to finish a story up,is a crummy 4 pages, they should do so. Lets see if this series even equals the 23 issue run of marvels dr.

Ah, but these stories appeared in Britian's Doctor Who Magazine before they appeared in the Marvel reprints. And while you could hit the back issue bins for the Marvel versions there ARE being printed on nice, modern, high-quality paper and they have been completely re-colored using modern color techniques.

Add to that, these are being printed in the order they were released in the Doctor Who Magazine run and those stories go well beyond the Marvel reprints. The DWM strips started with 4th Doctor/Tom Baker and went all the way up to 7th Doctor/Sylvester McCoy. Even when the series was cancelled, the magazine went on and actually went back and started doing some sort-of "past Doctor adventures" -- doing strips that told 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Doctor stories.

So, while $3.99 a pop may be kinda pricy in the end it will be worth it (at least to this American Who fan) to have a full-run of the stories all matching. I just hope the title lasts so that we can GET all of the stories -- many of these have never been published in the United States as far as I know.
