Awesome! Gary's work is fantastic! I have my fingers crossed for more Monstermen stories in the future!

Backup, huh? Okay, illustrated by M. Mignola, but how much illustration is really the question? A cover...maybe a few chapter headers, or the whole dang thing? It will be interesting to see when a cover image pops up for this one.

From William Schafer, Publisher of Subterranean Press:

Just a quick update on Backup, the Dresden Files tale by Jim Butcher due later this year. Mike Mignola has just turned in the cover and interior illustrations for our 72 page hardcover chapbook. The limited edition is long sold out, but copies of the $20 trade hardcover may still be preordered. Given Jim's legions of fans, we suspect this one won't be around for long after it's released this fall, so you might want to get in an early order to be certain of receiving a copy. We'll post samples of Mike's artwork in the next few weeks.

Trade: Fully Cloth bound hardcover: $20

He's not kidding. I went ahead and ordered a couple as christmas presents for some of those rabid fans that I call family....

They are almost as dedicated as we are to Mike! :0

Sorry Neil, If I could figure out how to paste the image into my post I would do so. If anyone can help out I would appreciate it and I will correct the post.

This in from Subterranean Press:

Please note: Including the Limited Edition copies, we have nearly 10,000 copies of Jim Butcher's new Dresden Files novelette, Backup, to ship. It's going to take us a few weeks to get everything out the door, at least. We'd appreciate if everyone would refrain from emailing about their order status until the end of October, so we can focus on packing and getting books out the door. One further note, and an apology. We completely flaked and did not have a separate dust jacket designed for the limited edition. Our apologies to everyone.

Backup will be available via Subterranean Press in three unique editions:

Lettered: 26 signed lettered copies, specially bound, housed in a custom traycase: (Sold Out)

Limited: 500 signed numbered copies, bound in leather: (Sold Out)

Trade: full cloth bound hardcover copies: $20

I'll be by the mail box waiting for mine.

Wow... I'm not so sure my LCS pal will be able to snatch me a copy (I brought it under his attention some 12 weeks back). But good to see editions like these be made still (and sell out).
I also like the Flesk books such as the Gianni one, really quality stuff. Really really pricy and exclusive books like a $300/$500 (?) Lovecraft posterbook is harder for me to follow 'though.

But yeah, lookin forward to the new Mignola material, almost as much as to Chapel Of M .

I just received my copy of Back Up by Jim Butcher. Mike provided the cover and four interior illustrations. The interior illos were shot and left without any levels adjustments so you get to see Mike's use of blacks and with some lighter areas of greys. Usually his art is adjusted for comics so you get those wonderful solid blacks. Here they're left in their natural tones and it give the artwork a luscious and textural feel.

I hope you got yours. This will be a hard to find collectable.
