You know this was actually a decent book for free that brought up some interesting things like Lyja and the Skull Kill Krew. It also mentioned that beetle skrull and went up to recent events. This was a good read although most art was just recycled comic panels, but it does give a pretty good history of the Skrulls. I was a little surprised that they didn't mention the 12 storyline run in with the Skrulls in X-Men. Anyway if you get this its a good read plus its free. Lets you into Tony's head so there is actually a lot of things to read and it isn't boring like reading an encyclopedia.

does it mention the Skrull plot from Captain America at all? (waids run in 98, issue 7 is the climax)

Well, ya gotta hand it to Bendis (did Bendis write this?). It sounds like he did his homework.

I'll definately check this out when I get to the comic shop.

this was a pretty worthy free comic. as i said in the other thread, i wasn't clear on the whole skrull kill krew thing and this gave a lot of good history.

It's nice to see that Lyja is still recognised, given that she hasn't been mentioned in Fantastic Four itself for...oooh...53 odd issues? I mean, I know she was a crappy character, but still.

I thought she was mentioned a few times in recent issues, it wasn't the same Lyja or anything, but it was still a Lyja.(Zombie universe)

She was anything but a crappy character. I really liked her with johnny. It was on of the rare times he was portrayed as an immature jerk.

so much respect for Skrull Kill Krew.

it cops alot of flak, but i seriously hope for an appearance.

some bad-ass comics right there

I found the best part of this issue to be the SI tie-in list at the back.

To the shock of no-one who has followed it, Black Panther ties in starting July. However, I *was* surprised to see She-Hulk, New Warriors, X-Factor and Thunderbolts tie in. That seems like a GIANT hint at Norman being a Skrull, as has been suggested, though I really hope not. In fact, I'd actually say Thunderbolts tying in stands as pretty convincing proof Warren Ellis is leaving Thunderbolts after the end of this arc (Though I really, REEEALLY hope I'm wrong) since it would be typical Marvel to follow up a star creator with a crossover, and I doubt Ellis would want to tie in.

I'm kind of hoping if there's a Skrull in TBolts it's Doc Samson. Granted that's kind of cheating as a skrull reveal since he's not a main character in the book... but it prevents SI from really messing up a book too much.

Ellis has been pretty cross-over free which is good so I'm wondering how Warren will handle the tie in. As for the others, I just hope books like New Warriors do the tie ins well rather than a predictable "Look who's really a skrull!" type thing. I expect Peter David to come up with some really good stuff with X-Factor and She-Hulk since he usually does tie ins very well but I'm still a bit surprised that She-Hulk will tie in since he said it wouldn't regarding Jazinda.

That's one thing I hope Brian Bendis overlooked regarding the tie ins, that they are done well enough to add to the story rather than just go along with it because they told them to.

I definitely hope marvel doesnt go the civil war route by having the same event occur in other titles except seen through the pov of that titles characters. I want more stories that actually add to the whole thing.

Making the prediction now that as part of Peter David's X-Factor Tie in he'll have "Banshee" come back to the delight of syrin and to the dismay of the rest of the team since he's obviously a skrull. Thus Syrin starts fighting on the skrull side to protect her "Da".

The Skrull on the thunderbolts... lets go with Swordsman. He's being put in charge of an armed rebellion in thunderbolts mountain right now, so he might as well be doing it for the Rib-Chins.

10 virtual bucks say the Skull Kill Crew comes back as the new Howling Commandos (or part of it).

I'm excited.

But, yeah, I agree that traditional parallax event tie-ins tend to be pretty bad.

Missed this at the LCS.

Does it still use the "skrulls pre-Kree-War were explorers/traders who became violent after the Kree killed their emperor and attacked them for no provocation"?

Missed this at the LCS.

Does it still use the "skrulls pre-Kree-War were explorers/traders who became violent after the Kree killed their emperor and attacked them for no provocation"?

yes, albeit they do indicate that the whole contest with the Kree and those plant people was the first sign of the legendary Skrull arrogance that led them to be so ruthless.

Does it say anything about Annihilation?
When I skimmed through it I did see a couple of panels referring to Annihilation. It pretty much HAS refer to Annihilation since that was another big status quo changer for the skrulls.

BTW anyone that wants to share thoughts or read up on the mobster 1930's skrull wackiness with the Avengers I made this thread (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=185540) here a while ago. Covers the Kree-Skrull War and the Avengers arc during the Roger Stern run which is referenced in the Annihilation Saga.

I'll have to edit the post anyway to make it for easier reading for those interested.

Since this comic was a free one, does anyone have the actual list of tie-ins that this event is going to have ? :(

Sure, but the list only covers the first half:

APRIL
Secret Invasion #1
Mighty Avengers #12
New Avengers #40

May
Secret Invasion #2
Captain Britain & MI 13 #1
Incredible Hercules #117
Mighty Avengers #13
New Avengers #41
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #1

June:
Secret Invasion #3
Avengers: The Initiative #14
Captain Britain and MU 13 #2
Incredible Hercules #118
Marvel Spotlight: Secret Invasion
Mighty Avengers #14
Ms Marvel #28
New Avengers #42
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #2
Secret Invasion: Runaways #1
Secret Invasion: Why Do You Trust? One Shot

JULY:
Secret Invasion #4
Avengers: The Initiative #15
Black Panther #39
Captain Britain & MI 13 #3
Incredible Hercules #119
Mighty Avengers #15
Ms Marvel #29
New Avengers #43
New Warriors #14
Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four #3
Secret Invasion: Runaways #2
She-Hulk #31
Thunderbolts #122
X-Factor #33

...I can safely say I will NOT buy every tie-in as I did with Civil War. I'm limiting myself to my usual books which tie in- that's New, Mighty, Initiative and Thunderbolts. I MIGHT buy Ms Marvel or SI: Fantastic Four. Might.

It's nice to see that Lyja is still recognised, given that she hasn't been mentioned in Fantastic Four itself for...oooh...53 odd issues? I mean, I know she was a crappy character, but still.
I liked her. And I so want to pick this up.

Tony summarizes what happened to skrulls in Annihilation based on what Nova told him. It gets a few pages.

Hey there.

I have a customer - let's call him Alpha Whiskey - who is requesting this free or $0.50 comic prelude to the Secret Invasion.

When is it being released, has it been released? Inquiring customers what to know.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Chris.

It came out this past week. My comic guy gave me two of 'em. I liked it a lot and the best part is that it was free! I really think Marvel did a great job with this. Very thorough.

You know what else was great? I saw Comet Man on the cover. There's hope!:D

It was nice to get a freebie that took a little while to read . . .

Some great information in there . . . I am pretty excited about this storyline . . .

Best free issue since Unity 0 back in the 90's . . . :)

This was a great read on the Skrulls back story.... I still don't get why a race with a GALAXY to themselves and the ability to get to ours seems to spend so much time obessing over one small blue-green planet....

And I soooo hope the Skrull KillKrew does not come back... man that book sucked.

What's this I'm hearing about hints of Hulkling being a "bad" Skrull? And blacked out in a team shot?!

Thanks for the pic ED. So is that supposed to be Teddy blacked out even though Hulkling is in the pic? How strange!

The person that told me about the image said Mariah Hill said Teddy was a bad Skrull

Well it is possible Teddy could turn bad because in the Marvel Knights Spiderman story that featured a skrull who thought he was human it was revealed that at a certain point he would be activated and his original personality would be erased and he would try to conquer the earth. Seems an odd thing though in my opinion to do with Hulkling.

Did anyone think it was odd that Tony brings up John the Skrull and Hulkling as good skrulls operating on earth, but fails to bring up Xavin? I'm fairly certain that the government is aware of a skrull operating with the Runaways, and the fact that he's a super skrull "in training" would make him pwerful enough to warrant a mention... not to mention they'll haver a tie-in mini...

Well Hulking is the son of an Avenger ally, the original Captain Marvel. :p

From Tony's perspective, the Runaways have been nothing but trouble. He's also very aware of their family lineages.

I'm glad She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel are getting tie-in issues, it'll give sales a boost so that hopefully both titles will be around for a bit longer.

The liberteens leader is a skrull to.

They plan to put one in all 50 state teams.

Wonder who the skrull is in the great lakes avengers?:)

What did it say about lyja?

I used to read fantastic four when she was on the team.

Isn't there a good skrull in she-hulk also?

Plus there's replica but she's in another reality right now.
