Today marks the “official” launch of Indy Comic News (http://www.indycomicnews.net), a new web site which fills a much-needed void for independent comics & graphic novels and their publishers and creators.

Indy Comic News (or ICN, for short) will not be your typical comic news site. While it will contain press releases, announcements, previews, etc. (which are added to the site by the publishers or creators themselves), it will also provide the following services to independent publishers, self-publishers, and creators involved in independent comics:

• As I mentioned already, they will be able to add their press releases and announcements to the ICN site themselves
• Have their titles added to the monthly Pre-Ordering Comics section of the site where they can provide Diamond ordering codes, links to previews, and more. The emphasis here is to give them an extra opportunity to sell their titles to those who do take the time to pre-order and also for retailers. Towards the end of each month, a PDF file of the titles will be created and made available for download from the ICN site and the CBIA forum with the intention that it will be used for pre-ordering.
• They can also add their title to the monthly Out This Month section when it is released. This will give them, yet, another opportunity to market their released title to consumers by providing them information on where it is available, links to previews, and such.
• A Publisher’s Directory which is simply a directory of publishers and self-publishers that people can use to find a certain publisher or self-publisher’s web site or contact information.

I welcome any feedback or questions you have which you can send to admin(@)indycomicnews.net. Thanks.

This website is the solution to the dilemma I presented in another forum. More press and news about Indie comic publishers was desperately needed.

"I want to support the indie comic publishers, but don't know where to start.

But the fact remains, the hardest part for indie comics, is generating public awareness that a new mini-series is starting. It's hard to jump on a series, when you only hear about how good it is from fans, while they eagerly await the mini-series conclusion.

Although publishing trades is the solution to allow everyone to read the successful mini-series. However, I like collecting comics, not trades. But if there are any exceptional trades out there, I'd sure like to know about them."

By the way, I've been loving the current Overman mini-series by Scott Reed

Wes,

It's good to see you still fighting the good fight. Is this what Independent Propaganda morphed into?

Anyway, you may wanna check out http://creamcitycomics.blogspot.com and www.musclesandfights.com

At those sites you'll find several creator links you'll find useful. You'll also find short interviews with several of the creators those links belong to.

I've already added ICN as a link on Cream City Comics.

Peace

Amado! How's it going? You should drop me a line when you get a chance. Independent Propaganda is still going strong but it's in the capable hands of Matt Butcher now.

I plan on making ICN a "different" kind of comic news site. One which provides indy publishers, creators, etc. some useful marketing tools in getting the word out on their titles and such. Now I'm just trying to get the word out on it which is a job in itself.

This is an excellent resource! I just dropped a line to start an account. I dig this as a new indy creator BUT just as much as a FAN!

It's hard to keep up with the indy scene because so many of the sites you're used to frequenting mention so little about the indy books and all us guys towards the back of Previews.

This is just what we need and I hope it flourishes!

Looking forward to checking the site out - it's great to see support for the indie books that tend to get overshadowed by the 279th Secret Invasion ancillary title. Not to get down on the big two, they do put out a lot of quality books, but c'mon - share the shelf!!
