I've gotten as far as the Red Panda Prologue. The issue reveals that Chase came back from the field after the death of Wallace. That SIS let her down and was willing to trade her to the Saudis.

Was this story part of the last Queen and Country Novel?
It really gave me a small shock that the death of the former minder one wasn't done in the comics, and left me a bit confused.

No, Operation: Red Panda takes place after the first Q & C novel, A Gentleman's Game. The second novel, Private Wars, takes place after the comic series.
