Hey, a buddy just got me into comics, and I've found so far that my fav's are Y the Last man and Fables. Anybody have any suggestions on comics that are as good and have gone through the full printing already?

First off, welcome to comics. Try not to let the hardcore fans scare you off :D
As for your question, if you're looking for other things within Vertigo comics, I would suggest either Transmetropolitan or Preacher. Though I should point out that both contain much more profanity and brutal violence than the other books you're reading, as well as extreme blasphemy too, if you're in any way religiously inclined. Just a heads up, but definitely look into them.
Outside of Vertigo, I would highly recommend The Goon from Dark Horse comics. It's ongoing, but it's a wonderfully hilarious book.

Seconds on Preacher & Transmetropolitan.
And I'd add Alan Moore's run on the Swamp Thing character (6 books, starting with Saga Of The Swamp Thing). It came from a time before "fuck"-- and a few others-- became mainstays in DC's "Mature Readers" word balloons, but it's a good & interesting place to see where the seeds were planted for the imprint's creation. Lots of real creepfests-- many with social commentary mixed in-- and one of comics' most memorable romance stories.

I'll see you Moore's SWAMP THING, and raise you Veitch's run, too.

Get Preacher, Sandman, and Transmetropolitan for sure.
If you want to do a little hunting, get the mini-series Industrial Gothic. Very fucked up but fascinating stuff.

It's weird because I am a huge fan of comics and find both Sandman and Swamp Thing to be overrated. While I wouldn't call them bad, I just never got the hype.
With that said I suggest (some not vertigo):
Preacher
Punisher MAX Series
Y: The Last Man
Battle Pope
Sam & Twitch
Girls
The Goon
100 Bullets
Hip Flask (way too overpriced though for the trade)
The Walking Dead (Best Zombie Comics Series EVER!)

Does Veitch's writing get better after the first trade? Because it seemed like he was trying much too hard to be Moore.

It's really more (ha ha: no pun intended) of the same. Personally, I think I dig it because Veitch "apes" Moore during his run.
However, if you didn't like the first trade, I wouldn't suggest the others.
I think it's a shame that DC hasn't finished his run in trades. Maybe one day... *sigh*

TBH, I can't see much similarity between Veitch's run and Moore's. I would agree that as his run continues it's more of the same - until later (stuff that's not yet in TPB) where it goes downhill.

Many of the best stories i have read from Vertigo is from Hellblazer comic.
It isnt over but there are so great old runs with great stories. The most interesting comics character is the main character too.
