Two major Chinese films based on the epic historical fiction? So, which looks better? Red Cliff (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAwNqsEIwaY) is going to be divided into two episodes (think Kill Bill), and is apparently the most expensive Asian-financed movie to date. Obviously, the plot revolves around the Battle of Red Cliffs, where the smaller Sun-Liu alliance faced off against Cao Cao's million man navy. They're working from historical texts, rather than RoTK. John Woo is at the helm.
Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xL7mIJaKL0) is the other one. No idea about what sections of the book it's going to cover, but I imagine it's going to focus on Zhao Yun. Interesting cast on this one, particularly Sammo Hung as Zhang Fei and Andy Lau as Zhao Yun. The trailer looks a little bit more interesting, but I imagine they sacrificed a bit of accuracy to the text to write in the extra female characters. However, that's easily forgivable since the novel basically sacrificed a lot of historical accuracy anyway.
So, anyone else excited about these two films? Or am I the only Three Kingdoms junkie on this board?
