So . . . it's a Marvel/Earth Prime crossover? Okay. Could be interesting.

Not much new information there, but I still await this with great anticipation. Millar + Super-Villains + Real World + Edwards = WIN!

Sounds good, I just hope it turns out better than Wanted, which I didn't particularly like for it's "Yeah, I'm bad guy, I'm gonna kill some people and then have sex and then kill some more people before returning for yet more sex" rubbish.

Yeah, first time I hear that mentioned. Now I'm intrigued by the series.

I have often wonder what could occur when the lines between of reality and fantasy turly crossover and now we can get that from Marvel.
Besides this series seems more intriguing by the mintue. :p

I'll wait to hear good things about the series by all the critics it will have. If I do hear good things, then I'll get this one in the trade. I'm just not interested enough to get this one in issues. I look forward to Avengers/Invaders much, much more.
1000th POST!!

Mark Millar 15 yr old in the real world obssessed with comics...1985 15 year old in the real world obsessed with comics gets to save the world and fight baddies...Kick Ass 19 yr old in the real world obsessed with comics gets to fight baddies.
I liked the first issue of Kick Ass (and generally enjoy Millar's work), but reading this interview just dropped me cold on 1985.

The scene with Red Skull was pretty creepy. I'll give it a shot.

I don't get it. Does the book actually take place in 1985?
As in....Big Hair, Madonna, and The Breakfast Club?

Yep. From what I can tell, the book takes place in the real 1985, and the Marvel villains have somehow crossed over into the real world.

I am a lot more interested in this book after reading the interview than I was before...in which I had zero interest in it.
I think it looks and sounds pretty cool.

The only thing I want is for the villains to go to that Earth and realize that their powers don't work the same way or maybe not even at all. Alas, it does not sounds like that will be the case.
I am intrigued, though.

The art looks great, but too bad millar is on it. a definite negative for me. Sounds like a bad copy of an Arnold movie.

Hmmm...looks interesting. I'll definitely be giving it a go. Tommy Lee Edwards' art looks great in those preview pages too. I'm liking the fact that this sort of ties into Secret Wars too.
So, the guy who offers all the valuable comics to Toby and his father...Doctor Octopus perhaps???

It's certainly a very "DC idea" with a Marvel spin on it.
I think it works better with Edwards art anyway, I didn't think that the photorealistic approach Millar had in mind would have been any good. I'm still looking forward to this though, supposedly it has ties with FF and Wolverine perhaps in the time travel aspect.

I'm really not all that interested in this honestly, but I might pick up the trade if the reviews sound positive.
Even after I read what it was about I wasn't interested... Then I read the sample pages, and holy crap... That was freaking chilling... I'm going to be keeping an eye out for this now.

Heh... you can tell it was a dfferant time... anyone offered mint condition FF#1 or similar books today would be stuffing a backpack and running for EBay!
Looking good. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I'd say Mole Man...

Yeah, you're probably right there. Definitely look like Mole Man's shades.

This sounds like some really cool fourth-wall breaking stuff!
I think the original photographic novel idea he mentioned sounds pretty interesting, but since that's not happening I gotta say Edwards' art looks pretty perfect for the concept. Millar is hit-hit-hit-miss with me (loved Swampthing/Aztek/Ultimates/Civil War, didn't really care for Wanted or Unfunnies).
Didn't think I would like Kick-Ass, but the first two or so pages changed my mind about that. 1985 is such an awesomely original idea, and one in which I think Millar could really explore some cool concepts!

Why wonder? Go get Secret Identity. This idea has never been dne better than in that book. Although this sounds cool too, I'll give it a shot.

It sounds way better than Kick-Ass that's for sure.
I'm hoping it actually has that Goonies/80s movie feel that Millar's promising. A 13 year old kid finding a haunted house in his 'hood occupied by Marvel villains is something I'm more inclined to read than a "What if Marvel villains exist in THE REAL WORLD?!!!" rubbish.
Basically, Monster Squad with supervillains rather than Universal monsters? Awesomesauce.
Purdy art, too.
