Has marvel ever took a mutant who wasn't affiliated with any mutant faction but was known as a mutant or outed themselves as a mutant and just had the character fight the good fight in a superman like manner? You know mentality together boyscout who fights for truth justice the american way and so on and so forth. I would find it hard to believe that even Marvel Earth 616 humans or should I say Americans would be as crazy with bigotry to dislike and secretly plot to kill such a hero.

Also having said character speak of a peaceful co-exist/tolerance of mutants and aliens? Or prehapes just lead by example?

I don't think Justice was ever affiliated with any part of the X-verse. He went on to be a New Warrior, an Avenger and now a part of the Initiative. He's also kind of the poster-boy for responsibility, since he went to jail even though he didn't have to for accidentally killing sombody when his powers were out of control. (His father, I think but don't remember 100%)

In terms of mutant heroes who debuted outside the X-books and continue to exist almost completely outside of them . . . Justice, El Aguila, Cloak and Dagger (sort of), Namor (sort of), and Bandit spring to mind. There are probably a bunch of others, though.

As for who among them fits your criteria? Justice probably comes closest, but, like I said, I could very easily be forgetting a character or two.

That was basically Dazzler, until she actually joined the X-Men. But for the course of her solo run.

Yeah I would have to say Justice is probably the closest. I wish he and Firestar would join up somewhere again I really liked them on Perez's Avengers run. I think they both should be in leadership positions.

I would love to see her show up as the person Vance goes to when he's in trouble because of the Initiative, and get drawn into saving his ass, and get back together.

Other than Justice the only person I can think of is Ricochet from Slingers. He never fully outed himself as a mutant though.
