View Full Version : UFO Hunters
Has anyone watched this show? It is on the History Channel.
I have seen two episodes, and I have to say I am extremely disappointed with the History Channel. When I first saw the promo for this, I was excited because I thought they were going to have scientists investigate various UFO cases.
Instead, we get a couple of "UFO experts" led by the publisher of UFO magazine. They are not objective at all, and use very little scientific reasoning. What is particularly annoying is that they seem to always end up finding no evidence and then make a statement like: "this only serves to support the theory that a UFO landed here." It's insulting.
Don't get me wrong, I think there is probably life somewhere else in the universe, but I am sick of watching shows that are based on nothing but conjecture and bunk science.
The History Channel has been airing more and more crap like this as the years go by.
Any thoughts?

The History Channel, or History Television as it's called here in Canada, also shows CSI and JAG. I'm pretty sure I've seen advertisments for that bunk UFO Hunters show too.
It just goes to show that the "History" in History Channel is quickly becoming just a suggestion.

Then again, the Discovery Channel has a game show on in the evenings here called "Cash Cab." You get into a taxi and then the driver asks you a bunch of questions for money...

Give it time. Just like everybody else, these channels live and die by ratings.

There's actually 2 shows with the same name. One is on Sci-Fi and the other on History Channel. I think this format is a hard sell because you can't know where an event is going to happen, unlike Ghost Hunters, where they go to a known location that is reputed to be haunted.

Cash cab is fun. Only seen it a couple times, but it's always nice people in the cab for some reason.
And the history channel needs money too.

I am getting tired of every channel becoming the same.
The History Channel has thousands of documentaries they could be showing, but everyday now, we are getting more and more stupid shows about aliens, ufos, ghosts etc. That isn't history, it is sensationalist sci-fi garbage.

I watched it and thought pretty much what you thought. Unobjective shit, with one particularly nasty piece of work on the team... some old guy who is perpetually wearing a ballcap, who decries any piece of evidence that doesn't support his conjecture. When they took an "implant" out of a guy's leg, and had it analyzed (they have a guy on the team who did the analysis, which automatically makes the analysis iffy to me) and it seems to have been a bit of iron with no special properties, and he just dismissed the identification and said it was clearly an implant.
Shit.

I've gotta ask, were you really expecting hard science from a TV show called "UFO Hunters"?

Shit.I haven't seen that episode, but the 2 I did see went essentially along those lines. That old guy with the ball cap and the sun glasses is the publisher of UFO magazine... not exactly an objective investigator.

Was one of the episodes devoted to Dennis Kucinich's alleged sighting?
