Its a bit early in the AM but...... If you got them, lets see them.

Recap of last issue: Brother Eye takes over Apokolypse. Karate Kid about to be disected by an OMAC. Red Robin annoyed with current heroes waist of time. Piper trys to control the anti life equation and is finally free of his bomb death. Mary Marvel back to having good powers. Granny Goodness dead. Monarch and Superman Prime still a giant Question Mark. DarkSeid and Monitor yet to have motives established.

Well, gosh.......

Desaad reveals he's been behind Trickster and Piper's travels throughout the series....
....because Piper is one of the rare human vessels of the Anti-Life Equation!!
Brother Eye attempts to dissect Karate Kid (for the virus he's got I'm guessing) but Jason, Donna, Ray and the others save the day
Pied Piper plays a tune for his tormentor Desaad........and POP! Goodbye Desaad: you go head explody.
Piper turns his tunes towards Brother Eye.......and BLAMMO! Goodbye Piper. Goodbye Bro....oh, he gets away and uninfected Apokalips in the process. And goodbye large chunk of Apokalips.

And regarding Pied Piper: rereading #10 and then at the revelation this issue: I don't believe Desaad was saying he crafted Piper's flute at all (like some 'round these parts said last week); but rather, he crafted the whole situation with Trickster and Piper so that he could break his spirit and thus use the ALE (channeled thru the flute) in him to take control.

But Piper wasn't so broken, and takes down both Darkseid's confidant and Brother Eye in one showstopping swan song.

and now piper is dead too.

Wow countdown is getting worse, and i really thought it could only go up from here.

Also if desead was in control of piper and tricksters situation then darkseid knew of it as to why he was confident the Monitor wouldnt win by having brother eye come there

I could have sworn that Geoff John's said that his new Rogue's mini would feature Piper going after the other rogues in order to finish Trickster's last wish.

If that's the case, I doubt Piper is really gone.

this is the first issue in several that I've liked, things actually happened, Darkseid let Brother Eye take over because it doesn't matter in the big scheme of things, there is a purpose for why Pipers story was so integral to Countdown (which is great since it's been hands down the best storyline in the entire series)

as to
Brother Eye attempts to dissect Karate Kid (for the virus he's got I'm guessing) but Jason, Donna, Ray and the others save the day

not exactly, yes they save Karate Kid, but Brother Eye gets the virus still

Indeed he did:
NRAMA: But Pied Piper is in there as well, right?

GJ: Yeah. Piper had no business being anywhere near the death scene of Bart Allen. And he's going to have to face that with Wally West and the Rogues and sort that out in his own head. But he's there to help Wally take them down once and for all. When he hears the Rogues are back and they're on the prowl, he's hot on their trail. And it's a matter of whether Wally will want to work with this character and do this or not. There's a lot of animosity between Flash and Piper. They've changed. They used to be good friends. And Piper's not a bad guy. He's a good guy. And we'll explore his abilities and powers and what he's gone through over the last year as well.

So basically nothing gets answered again?

Except for the true reason behind Piper and Trickster's trials, why Brother Eye came to Apokolips, Desaad's master place, and what he did with Firestorm. Yeah, nothing.

Why Firestorm was acting so... lethargic and morose? I know that Brother Eye drained him, but he acted like a freakin' idiotic retard!

This edition was very interesting. The game between Darkseid and Solomon goes on...

And here's the mistery... who Donna Troy saw?

Okay, so Brother Eye only assimilated Apokalips because Darkseid let him, knowing Piper would remedy the problem, right?

But as much as I like Pied Piper... we're to believe he temporarily acquired the Anti-Life Equation, and used it to detonate a huge chunk of Apokalips? That's still a real reach. A Desaad head-explodey I can deal with, but that's just too much.

Brother Eye is going to try and spread Morticoccus? Was Val "dead" when they did the autopsy on him, because the Challengers seemed to indicate he was just "operated" on, and he survived.

And why did Brother Eye let Una go, but not any of the other OMACs after the detonation? And why did no one on Earth notice when the population suddenly decreased by tens, if not hundreds of thousands, when he stole all the people he needed to make those OMACs?

So... still a lot of head-scratching from this title. Mildly coherent.

Piper's abilities somehow being based in the Anti-Life equation actually makes sort of sense, seeing as how mind control was one of his main powers.

Maybe the Greek Gods saved Piper and Ganymede will endow him with the ability to seduce and control the minds of men?

Aren't all these OMACs inhabitants of Apokolips? Also, to be fair, you can see a bunch of OMACs falling & starting to leave their hosts after Brother Eye escapes, it's not all that clear though.

While it was an issue where only a few relatively unimportant mysteries got solved, it was actually a pretty good one. Things moved, the "talkie" bits were well intergrated, and because everyone was finally in one place there was a cohesion most of Countdown has lacked.

Well, except... Jimmy Olsen. I'm still not sold on Jimmy Olsen having any part of this.

Why does Brother Eye want the virus? What was he doing with Firestorm? What does Jason, Donna, or Kyle have anything to do with all of it? What made Karate Kid so special that he could be a host to the virus? What happened with Superman Prime and Monarch?

These are some of the things that I was hoping to get answered this close to the end of the series. Or at the least those plots would have hit their climaxes.

I'm not saying he's not part of this. I meant I'm not sure I want him involved in this story. He just seems lamely tacked on, although I'm sure the idea is to pull some rabbit of the hat last second with him to make him seem relevant (the way they just did with Piper).

What the heck happend to Kyle? Where the heck is Jimmy? I thought he was coming with reinforcements. Darkside did pick up his little figure...
I hope Mary, Jason, Donna, and Kyle don't die.
I kinda like the piper now too but it's looking bleek for him.

On the last page who's the big guy getting changed back and falling into the fire?

You're probably right, especially since I think they said his armor came from Apokolips. Either way, I'm sure that what happened to them will be explained next issue.

Yeah but kyles ring would do nothing to stop Monarch. It puts up a few seconds against Prime though (well it does if you have a few other lanterns with you... say 50) My vote is ParaDemons

We saw some of his Countdown Arena batch atomised on Earth-51. And according to Tony Bedard, Monarch plays no further role in the series.

Really? I dont remember seeing any of his League in the issues

I was wondering if they're going to bring them in Final Crisis as "Monarchs last stand" sort of thing but then have Earth-31 Superman come with his league and then have Prime be their general, I'd really like to see J. G. Jones draw that war

Lord Havok and the Extremists were certainly on Earth-51 when it blew. We saw at least Havok moments before annihilation.

I'm sorry to say they mostly did squander the potential of Monarch's army. As Sean says, they definitely atomised Havok and his guys, but we also see Red Son Superman and Vampire Batman fighting in Monarch's army in the war on Earth-51.

It's VERY easy to miss them, because they only appear in background shots. I only saw them because I was looking out for them. I think it was the last issue or two, though I could be wrong; I don't have my copies here with me now to check.

If that's the case, I doubt Piper is really gone.

Even if he did die, which I doubt, he's bound to get into Heaven. And last I checked they still handed out Harps. He can just play himself back to life with the Anti-Life Equation.

Trickster and the Flash they killed too if he wants. Screw continuity, he's PiperGod!
