Hello all!

I'm seeing that this arc comprises of Batman #232, 235, 240, 242-244 and Detective Comics #411, 485, 489, 490. I'm wondering what the actual sequence that follows is, to read it in its proper order. Anyone know?

Also, what's up with it skipping such huge numbers (232 then 235 then 240... and 411 then 485?!)? Maybe I'll find out reading it.

But yeah, I just don't know what order is correct.

Thanks!

Do you have the trade? If so, they're in order in there. Otherwise, it's pretty much just by release date. The large gaps are because it's just stories relating to Ra's. He only appeared every so often, and those are his stories.

I figure they must be in order of release, but sadly this is as best as release given per the cover of each:

Batman
232 - June
240 - March
242 - June
243 - August
244 - September

Detective Comics
411 - May
485 - September 1979
490 - May

So I mean, I don't know if any of the Detective Comics come in between the Batman ones, and if so which first (485 vs 244), etc.

I just remembered this website. Guy made a huge list of Batman stories, in reading order. There are some inaccuracies, but it's generally pretty good.

Detective #411
BATMAN #232
BATMAN #235
BATMAN #240
BATMAN #242
BATMAN #243
BATMAN #244
Tec 485, 490.

That should be about right. Also, if you look inside the issues, the small print at the bottom of the first or second page, called the incidia (unless I spelled that wrong....) Anyways, it should have the date published listed there, including the year.

"Indicia," like "indicate."

I think I may be confused. You're reading the originals then? Not the trade?

No one's perfect, but if you find any inaccuracies, you should let him know. I hear he's a really cool guy. He's worked TheBatSquad.net site into his new site, theDCU.net.
Thanks for the plug, by the way ;)

As for the original question here, the stories printed in this volume are in chronogolical order. The reason it skips around so much is that it's just a massive collection of Ra's al Ghul appearances - not a bunch of issues that comprise a single storyline. They date from the early to late 70s. Still a great read.

Ah the days when comics were a group of stories not a bunch of neat six issue story arcs. :D
