I like Spam!

Many people don't like it, due to, I don't know, health reasons? I know the British hate it because that was the only meat they could it during WWII...

Spam only tastes good if you eat that other Hawaiian dish with it, right?

It's pretty popular in the Philippines. There's even a restaurant...

There's a Spam Museum (http://www.spam.com/museum/spam_museum.aspx) in Austin. I love their slogan which is "Sure beats an art museum".

Imagine - a 16,500 square foot museum devoted to Spam.

I am neutral on spam. I certainly don't like to have it on a consistent basis, but I like it in small doses as ham-substitute.

Some friends and I went on our way home from a wedding six or seven years ago. We were disappointed that it wasn't more campy. It did have a video of Al Franken* doing some kind of game show with questions that could be answered from things you learned at the place though.

*I think that it was Al but it's been awhile.

Think that's closed down. That branch has, at least.

I actually don't like it in protest of the United States imperialism in Hawaii and subsequent destruction of the local economic system and parts of the culture.

If by "other Hawaiian dish" you mean "Maui Waui," yes.

Actually likes Spam, especially pan-fried over a crackling campfire!

I had never eaten Spam until I had to write an article about it, so I figured I ought to taste it in the interest of proper journalistic research. Now I have a taste for the stuff. I prefer to eat it with a fork, cold, straight from the tin. It's incredibly unhealthy for you though, so I only get it once in a while.

The only other place that likes spam is BoyScout Jamborees(sp)! :D

Spam is like bologna, it's not a 'real' meat. That's why it's not a top food choice. I hear as much as mainland U.S.A. has problems with weight, native Hawaiians have double the problem. I'm betting they were introduced to spam through the military. Importing food there is expensive and hawaiians have given up on their native, normally healthy, fare.

I like spam.

In all honesty, there aren't many foods that I don't like.

Korea eats the most spam in the world outside the US and 40% of it is given as treats and gifts since it is considered classy/

Calling Spam meat does a disservice to real meat.

Just in case, I loaded up on some canned goods and jugs of water back in the early '90s, when the winters were really intense here in Minnesota. I eventually realized that nothing was going to shut this place down for more than 24 hours, so I drank the water and used up the canned food, just to free up the shelf space.

The Spam was the worst. I enjoyed it when I was in Boy Scouts, but as an adult, I find Spam to be too fatty and squishy. The only way I could tolerate it was to cook it very well-done, almost crunchy, then make a sandwich with wheat bread and mustard.

Spam is has too much of a salty taste. Also, I can't get into eating meat out of a can because I cannot accept the possibliity that it's healthy.

SPAM's biggest problem health-wise is sodium I believe. But SPAM-lite solves that problem :)

Is Spam-Lite packed with that same gelatinous goo?

I've never eaten it.

There's a hipster place in Portland that puts it in the mac & cheese.

Letting sweetened condensed milk harden into a flan-like substance is tastier and just as gooey ickey.

Spam is like bologna, it's not a 'real' meat. .

I'd rather have a bologna and bar-b-q'd potato chip sandwich, on potato bread.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing that tastes better for breakfast on the third day of camping like a big pan of fried Spam.

Yum.

Especially when served up with a stack of Dad's potato pancakes. I'm salivating just thinking of it.
