Besides Shadowpact, which is that even still around? He rarely appears anyways, I think he will still appear be all mysterious and such then leave in the DCU. This means we actually get to expand on Phantom Stranger, which is a good thing. So I think it's good news, it is Matt Wagner doing it so more good news. And hopefully dealing with more Arthurian themes will help get the juices flowing on the next Mage, though I guess also need enough real life has passed to go further as it's a bit autobiographical.

Damn, so Shadowpact is biting it? Blue Beetle and The Atom can't be far behind, then. :( And now he's writing another Vertigo book I can pretty much guarantee won't see a third year of publication. Ah, well...
The Phantom Stranger's been all over the place. He was part of the Books of Magic series and still remained a DC character. I doubt he's gonna disappear from our superhero books completely, especially when they need magic characters to fill out some panels in group shots.

Yeah - I definitely place Phantom Stranger alongside Deadman (Boston Brand) and Zatanna as a character who goes in both mainstream DCU and Vertigo stuff

I think as long as he's not headlining his own Vertigo book, he'll be permitted to appear in both places.

Besides, the Phantom Stranger already has a long history in Vertigo titles, so he isn't "going to Vertigo;" he has already been there for quite some time.

Phantom Stranger in a romance?
It seems so... strange.

It wouldn't seem strange is he were a tall, dark Phantom Stranger in a romance, now would it? He is tall.

Nah, mutual attraction just doesn't seem to suit him.

It's not necessarily a sexual romance, though, is it? I could easily see him being drawn to Madame Xanadu's power and mastery of the mystic arts.

I guess I'll have to wait and see exactly what the deal is.
