So there has been a lot of talk in this forum about trade paperbacks, preference in how to read series and such. This has created a question I would like answered. Are there enough of us who pick up books by trades who are up for and willing to discuss them as they come out? There are sporadic specific issues threads but I want to talk about what I am reading with the (generally) intelligent people on this forum if at all possible. Especially Scalped's 2nd trade there's a lot going on there. But the key would be people willingness not to spoil what happens after this trade and really retain to just discussion and theories based solely on the trades released. So, who's up for it?

I think it's a little difficult not be spoiled when you wait for the trades. But anyway, this is a nice movement. I haven't read Scaleped's second trade (I'll go for the first soon)...

I am. Start up the threads and if I've read the book, I'll comment.

Kk I will start one up tomorrow when I'm more coherent and less excited about the news from wondercon!

I'll join in. I pretty much avoid this particular board because I solely collect Vertigo in trades.

Started one up, it's a bit long winded but it's what happens when I've had lots of time to think over a piece of fiction and also the curse of being an English major.

I'd love to re-read the issues and thn contribute. Scalped is a favorite series of mine and when it comes out it always ends up on the top of the read pile. If you could, please, re-iterate which issues the trade collects so I DO NOT spoil you good people.

I think the first 11 issues are in the first two trades. The final issue of the 2nd trade is called Requiem for a Dog Soldier all about Gina Bad Horse if that helps.

It does! I'll give my opinions a day after tomorrow. But well, can a brother please exult others to read monthlies rather than trades since that seems to matter most as far as sales are considered?

There was a discussion about Vertigo and sales (trades and singles) on Ellis' new forum the Whitechapel. Tony Moore posted saying though that Scalped is selling about the same as Exterminators did but is selling much more in the trade area. From the talk there it really does feel like trades help keep titles along.
