We see Hulk and Tony from where we left off, Tony suits up as quickly as possible and intercepts Hulk as he leaves the facility. He fries his brain, the Hulk reverts and Tony jumps out of his damaged and now explosive suit.

Bruce is in hospital, Tony and he get very jargon-y and basically Tony questions why Bruce would design a serum that was so capable of adaptation and evolution. Tony tells Bruce that the nanotechology is keeping the Hulk problem at bay for a while and allows Bruce to his Hulk research at the facility.

Leader is shown spiteful about the two men, he mocks the two and their attempts at perfection to his assistant and then prepares a plan to get their blood. The Stark facility goes up in a cloud of gas and everyone starts to pass out as men (presumably the Leader's) prepare to take Banner and Stark's blood. To Be Continued...

- All to be said, great issue, little happened but building to something amazing.

Well I for one loved this issue it felt like a real Ultimate Marvel was back. IMO he captured the essence of both chracters astoundingly and I loved the discussion Tony and Bruce had after the fight. Great character moments the two really play very fascinating constrast to one and other. The Leader's rant felt a bit expostiony but I'm sucker for bad guy monologues so I'll let it slide. I'm very intrested to see where this goes.

Well, I have a solution for that. I'll start flaming the comic and then you guys can defend it, and people can all post a ton. I'll go on saying its crap and that there should be more action and that the dialogue is too wordy and that it needs more action. Oh and corny catch phrases, like Suck It!

Whatcha guys think?

This Tony Stark is leaps and bounds more fun to read than any other incarnation IMO. I'm including Ultimates 1 and 2 of course.

Happy to see Tony outsmarted him, I wasn't really looking forward to seeing him brutally job to The Hulk again.

Does anyone know of an alternate unverse where the keys to the Ultimate Universe were given to Ellis, not Loeb?

Becuase I would really REALLY like to go there.

I wouldn't mind this book as much if Ellis wasn't writing it.Oh I don't have a problem with Ellis,in fact he is one of my favorite writers. But having him write this ho-hum book detracts him from his best book- Thunderbolts, which causes it to be late.

Ultimate Human is the reason Thunderbolts has been running so late?

I don't know that for sure but it couldn't help it any.I have noticed that writers that lend themselves out to multiple books always have their main books being put out late, the same goes for the artists.I just wish that comic companies would make their writers have at least three issues in the hole at all times on said writers main title book if they plan on writing multiple titles.Maybe I'm just feeling a little upset since Thunderbolts is such a great book (it has been in my top 3 since Ellis took over) and it is always late and Ultimate Human is okay at best and this is stretching it,and when it is said and done the story will be nothing but a throw away story having no impact on the Ultimate Universe.

Yeah, it IS odd that Marvel would hand over the keys to what is REALLY a true outsider of the Universe.

I would have wanted to see Ellis do the Ultimates over Loeb.

It's not always the writers at fault. Bendis turns in near-flawless performances when it comes to getting his work out on time despite how overextended he is, except for his work with Frank Cho at the start of Mighty Avengers. Some writers can handle working simultaneously on multiple books and still get everything out on time.

You are correct. But then there are times when you don't know who to blame-example All Star Batman and Robin-who knows whose at fault here.I have heard people point fingers both ways.

I like how this miniseries is going. I fills the gap in the Ultimate Universe that Ultimates 3 left.
I hope it doesn't get like Ultimate Power, which started well and ended up being the beginning of the sh*t that is Ultimates 3.

What the hell are you even talking about?

When did I say anything contrary to what Tony is? Did I say Iron Man could beat the Hulk in a bare knuckle fight? You're putting words in my mouth, friend.

No, I was hoping that his ass would get saved or that he would find a way to outsmart him (which he did).

Job (the term I know at least) means someone quite weak or less meaningful being taken down to heighten the other contender's status.

A job's a job and suffice to say, thats exactly what happened to Tony last time around.

I am not saying thats not what should happen when a guy in a metal suit fights a giant titan of a monster or that it would be wrong for Tony to get beaten, all I was saying is I wanted an interesting outcome to the fight rather than Hulk just beating on Tony for a couple of minutes (though I'm sure that would have been cool aswell) and walking away.

I got that, thankfully.

I think it'd be interesting to give it all a twist that the way you defeated Hulk cannot be used more than once(like next time he hulks out, his form has evolved to be immune to that weakness). You could show this by having Tony trying to take out the Hulk with the eye brain thing and failing, and also having a short spiel at the end of the series that his fix on Banner won't work again because he evolved so it can't be used(I think we all know that ironically, Bruce will need to become the Hulk so he doesn't get killed by the Leader or something and IM will deactivate the nanobots). Unless you guys want to see a Banner that has his nanobots released so he can Hulk out against global threats.. which isn't bad since it'll keep Banner as an ace up the sleeve. I'm not too sure what I'd want, development as a superhuman or the same ole Hulk scenario.

i like what miller was doing with the hulk, making him the weapon of last resort.
that's a good take on the character,he's so powerful that you always used him last.
and i like that he's different from the 616 hulk, that he doesn't have to get mad to adapt and evolve, his body just does it naturally.
i must say i had my doubts about ellis, but he came through with a splendid take on the ultimate hulk.:D

Yeah, the Ultimate hulk is one of the best Ultimatisations. I love the general trauma as being cause for his changes. I mean, imagine if Banner and Betty got back together and she dumped him? He tear her apart. He's a living war machine. And Ultimate Banner is awsome, too. The vegetarianism is fantastic, he's really the anti-Hulk. I hope we get an epic from this, and Ultimate Madman.
