One evil bastard, lots of good still in the world.

I remember reading this the day or so after it happened. It really is a sad but inspiring story.

This makes me sad. I am happy to know the child is recovering.

I remember when this first happened, the girl was in critical condition.

Glad to hear she is pulling through.

As a mom, I'd rather be shielding my kid, than the other way around, and I bet she would, too---but the child just jumped there. It really *is* a miracle her little girl survived---and that's one brave kid.

And one really sick bastard, to shoot anyway.

I'm glad the little girl is recovering, and that they're getting some help. I think the hardest thing of all is that the child lost an eye... it's hard, losing half your vision. But this kid is gonna fight her way through... and she could teach a lot of adults about courage. :)

Good luck to her and her mom on this.

Good to know she's pulling through. There was a story over here recently about a 9-year-old boy who got stabbed in the face protecting his mum from an attacker. These kids deserve all the praise in the world and then some.

I have no words to describe that lass.

...and may the shooter never know peace.

"She remembers bits and pieces, but she's not really talking about it much. It's like she's blocking it out or something," said Parker, 30.
Well gee, you think?

But yes, that *is* truly an amazing little girl. The only real tragedy is that the sick bastard that shot her gets to keep breathing. Seriously, anyone who does something like this to a child deserves to be buried under a prison.

me wish they could at least temporily suspend the 8th amendment. This guy deserves some cruel and unusual punishment. Instead, he'll probably be out of prison in a few years while his victims have a life sentence of expensive
treatment and therapy.
