Aside from reading about him in the SWAMP THING series, I've never read an issue of HELLBLAZER. However, I'm interested in the movie.

I know I could check IMDb for user comments, but I'm more interested in hearing what the denizens of CBR have to say!

What am I in for with the movie?

Good action movie with supernatural and religious aspects.....

Was not John Constantine though. Horrible representation of him, but the best can be expected I guess.

I agree with this. I liked the movie so long as I pretended that it had nothing to do with John Constantine. But I found it to be pretty decent, all told. If you're not really that familiar with him and not likely to care about the deviation from the source material, it's worth watching.

Even taking away the pretence of being related to the comic character I found it to be a fairly mediocre film

I enjoyed it, but I find myself not stand to see it a second time. Reaves is doing what he can though.

I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

Btw: Have any of you ever played the video game?

I like the movie =)

I played the game on PS2.
The levels are quite easy. Most of the time you're trying to find artefacts. You can play with the weapons you see in the movie, that makes a lot of fun ... and switching between hell and earth als well.

Do you think it would be easy for a non-gamer? I have a PS2, and have fiddled around with it, but aren't good at many games. I'd love one where it'd be easy to beat. :p

Same. Fairly predictable, had some half-assed CGI effects, and the writing and acting were standard stuff, for the most part.

Well, the movie was good enough to made me interested in the comics.
That being said, after reading the comics, they are so much better than the movie. The movie doesn't even use the same premise as the comics, it's just a character that use Constantine name.

Well, I liked the effects, and it did pique my interest enough to pick up a graphic novel (which piqued my interest further into buying a couple more, can't wait to get another). As it's been said it's not really John Constantine though. Another weak point was the guy who played Chaz.
Though the actors who played Papa Midnite and Lucifer really stole the scenes they were in.

Finally, I watched this last night.

It was pretty decent. It kept my attention throughout the film. Not sure if I like that ending or not. The chewing gum bit really made me groan.

Still, it was a good way to kill a couple of hours.
