And it features LED tipped tracer rounds. There is no way I can hash the price tag but if I had the money to throw away...
It's a beautiful piece!

Sideshow is proud to bring you this 1:1 scale prop replica of 'The Samaritan,' Hellboy's famous pistol used in the film Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The gun features an opening chamber, which allows you to remove all four metal bullets from the rotating cylinder! The display stand features the an engraved B.P.R.D logo and four bullet display spaces. The round, red portion of the stand can be easily removed from the base to wall-mounted for alternate display. Each limited edition gun is hand crafted in dense metal with a real wooden grip and authentic leather braid. The Samaritan replica pistol is hand crafted to Sideshow's exacting standards, ready to take its place in your Hellboy display!
with the hefty price tag ..i don't know if i can double dip here....i'd be up for a Big Baby replica though:D

Neat! I wonder how the purchasers of the original Samaritan will feel about this though. This one makes the other one less "limited", plus it's also got the fancy stand and supercool LED action. The gun itself looks like it's exactly the same as the original.
more goodies to come...yes

I have the original mini replica. I have yet to be in a position where I could afford a full sized one. Well at least afford and justify it to myself. :)
I'm hoping they release a mini big baby and if nothing else a mini version of the stand this new one comes with.
I want that one, Its just down right awsome.:D

Son of a...
This doesn't make me happy. But for those that didn't get one before, these are very nice. In fact this one is nicer and better than the original!
dammit...if they would sell the base seperately..i'd be SO in...the base has the game board Hellboy icon...ARRRRGHHH!!! (maybe i'll win the lotto)then i'll have to buy another holster too...ARRRRGHHH!!!;)

I SO agree, buddy. Why not help out their existing customers by offering the base (and tracer bullets, of course) to those who have the gun already. I'd pay for it easily. I'll have to suggest it.
Never mind the fact that this gun is metal and wood while the previous ones are the ubiquitous Sideshow "polystone." C'mon, Sideshow, throw us a bone!

You beat me to it. It is metal with a wood handle and leather braids. This is quite a bit cooler than the polystone! But that price!!! You are halfway to the price on a piece of original hellboy art...
Does anyone remember how much the other version sold for? I think it was cheaper... $250? $300?

It's still listed (out of stock) for 299.00 (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=hellboy_props&item=8911)
It's a shame they're so pricey :( Thought I do find myself eyeballing the flex pay schedule and thinking "well that's not so bad". Must...hold...out...

The original Samaritan was $300 (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=8911), apparently. I'm sure people paid more than that for it through other channels though. Maybe a lucky few paid less.
I'd say that for metal, wood, leather, the fancier stand (wall-mountable!) and LED bullets plus inflation over 4 years another $100 is not an unreasonable.
Whether paying $400 overall for the object over spending it on original art is "reasonable" is purely an index of personal desire and not worth debating, IMO. There are folks outside of comics who might think that the amount one spends on original art is not "reasonable" either and would say "I could by a plasma TV for that amount!" ;)
EDIT: D'OH! Bellygrub beat me to it.

A friend of mine had a Sideshow retailer account, and we got them for $200. I flipped mine sight-unseen because I had begun dating a "no guns of any type" Canadian in the time between order and arrival (they were many months late in shipping).
With the new ones being metal & wood with the cool wall display, I'll bet the going rate for the current ones gets cut in half.

I'm feeling kinda gipped is what I am.

Might be a dumb question but does it come off the base? All of the pictures have it still attached.

Hey Andy,
They are currently selling for $500-600 on ebay, so yeah, I definitely see that dropping back towards their original sales price...By the way, do you still have a friend with a retailer account? pm me if so... ;)
Did anyone else notice that the package weights 23 pounds?!?!
An AK-47 assault rifle weights less than 9 pounds (good ol' wikipedia). Unless it comes in a steel box, that is a serious hand cannon!! It would take two hands just to steady it. And anyone that practices their quick draw with this will have forearms like popeye.

I sent a message to the good folks at Sideshow to see if they would offer anything to the original buyers. I will update should they respond.

This one comes with a meatball hoagie in the barrel. Completely different.

Imagine trying to get that sucker through airport security...
"No, it's just a prop from a movie...a movie prop, it doesn't work...the Hellboy movie...no, it's not Satanic, what are you stupid...DON'T TASE ME BRO!"

Interesting. It looks like folks might be unloading their old Samaritans, perhaps so they can buy the new one:
Samaritan e-bay auctions (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=samaritan+sideshow&category0=)
It doesn't appear that the new version has depressed prices too much, at least not below the original MSRP... though the sudden flood on the market is probably not helping. I would think it would be wiser to wait until the new version has sold out. Then both of them will be in demand.
I prefer the old stand. The new one is distracting.

There are times when I could use a meatball hoagie gun.

Yes.
The BPRD logo also detaches from the main base and can be wall mounted. That's the part I that makes me most envious of this re-design. I could certainly do without the faux rock part.
