Well, now....

Orion fights an enraged Mr. Miracle, but when forced to reveal the truth he says he's not the killer but merely was acting as bait to lure the killer out
Himon goes to tend with "personal business"
Orion sees the killer coming and blasts off after him, only to discover - as he heads into an energy form beyond anything he could ever deal with - that it's not the Infinity Man at all
Superman and Mr. Miracle rush to Orion's aid (they were told earlier to leave the fight to Orion) only to be overcome with a supernova: the death of Orion.
back on Apokolips, Darkseid reachs out and feels the death of his son: "Finally, our joined story has reached its end."
Himon returns to New Genesis, where he speaks in an almost religious-overtoned voice and sets off a bright explosion - presumably killing what's left of New Genesis's high council (the Commander and Teledar) I guess?
Superman and Mr. Miracle, after finding Orion's charred helmet drifting in space, retreat to a safe distance, and discover the 2nd Source Wall
as they do, Himon approaches - hands engulfed in energy and speaking with the same font that the Source speaks with - presumably, he is our New Gods killer.

I'm not really buying Himon as the killer. More, perhaps, as a tool the Source has been using to achieve certain gains. Either that, or Starlin went back, fixed some of the connections that revealed Infinity Man as the killer (he went on record as being peeved IM's identity was leaked in BIRDS OF PREY back when Knockout was killed) and put some last-minute plot points in that made Himon look guilty.

I mean, in this issue he literally leaves to attend to "personal business" (killing Orion, I presume) and then returns to (I think) blow up the Commander, before showing up at the 2nd Source Wall - something presumably only Himon knew about (Metron knows but he's hangin' with the Source, and Takion, who......well, ended up as worm food moments later)

Plot unevenness aside, though, a decent issue.

Not even shocked to see Orion die before the tale ends: as he says, "he's a warrior not a detective." And I guess his fate was sealed when this became a unsolved mystery tale....

Im enjoying the story thus far, i really dont care who it is aslong as Darkseid doesnt die. (Or at the least he gets a worth death, this heart and soul tear out isnt how i pictured him going down.)

Makes sense to me. The guy’s name is Himon. You know he got picked on back in his adolescence on New Genesis, and they teased and called him Hymen.

Obviously, this slowly made him crack, and swear that one day he’d get his revenge and kill all the New Gods for calling him the immortal maidenhead. You know bullies would punch him in the nose, and joke about “popping the cherry”. It was a formula to make him a Fourth World serial killer, ready to go postal. Blame his New Genesis parents for naming him something that stupid.

I think He did it on purpose, I just don't see why he would make such a big loud fuss about the killer's identity being revealed unless he wanted you to think it was the truth and then surprise you.

I thought it wasn't going tot be the infinity man, it was all just a ruse, but i didn't think it would be himon either, i thought it was too obvious, then again i thought they were putting in hints it was him and then reveal it to be someone else. ahh i don't know.

I think the big reveal is yet to come.

Surely Orion is not dead.

I thought his destiny was to kill Darkseid.

I'm pretty sure he's final-final dead. (For now)

His destiny was to battle Darkseid in the firepits of Apokolips and thus decide the fate of all. However, it seems that since they HAVE battled there before, Starlin's either

A) Taking their battle in Simonson's "Orion" to be that prophesised battle, since technically it did "change" a lot, even if Darkseid came back OR
B) Ignoring the prophecy.

I'd guess the latter.

This one, please. :p

You're the first person I've seen in quite a while who remembered that Orion vs. Darkseid in the firepits already happened.

The prophesy said "father shall face son" - and that happened. "Son shall become father" also basically happened too. It was just basically undone, is all.

If I remember it, it's because I'm still bitter it was undone after all the build-up. :p I loved Simonson's Orion, but that was the greatest sore point with me. That and the thankfully unfounded thread of having Darkseid NOT be Orion's real father.

I damned Our Worlds at War greatly for being the reason for the reversal as well. :-/

Walt did what he could to make it decent, at least.
