PS-Does anyone know anything about the film adaption of World War Z?

I really don't like horror, so maybe my opinion counts for nothing. That said I really liked 28 days/weeks later. If you count those infected with the rage virus as zombies?

Dawn of The Dead, Original and The Remake.same here, but i like all of the good dark non comedy oriented zombie flicks (Shaun of the dead notwithstanding). yeah i generally like all dark zombie films. you would have to completely screw up a zombie flick in order for me not to like it.

Old school "Night Of The Living Dead".

The perfect zombie film....

Except for Cemetary Man. Which had zombie boyscouts.

Another vote for the original Night of the Living Dead.

Although the original Dawn isn't shuffling along too far behind.

Come on now. I know I'm not the only one who loves the cheesy awesomeness that is Return of the Living Dead. Night of the Living Dead is the Granddaddy of all zombie movies, and deserves to be #1. There's just something about punk + zombies that I love. I imagine it would be like chocolate and peanut butter, but I don't even remember what peanut butter tastes like because I'm allergic. What that has do with anything is anyones guess.

not "exactly" a zombie flick, but close enough that I'm willing to count it.

Dario Argento's "Demons" -- an absolute classic, about folks caught in a movie theatre, when demons begin taking over folks, and killing everyone. One bite, or scratch, and you become one!

going for "straight" zombie flicks -- it's hard to top "Dawn of the Dead" (the original), or Fulchi's "Zombie", but Peter Jackson's "Dead/Alive" comes awful close.

I vote for the original Dawn of the Dead. There were so many unforgettable moments, like that scene with the helicoptor blade, or the silly initial interaction between the bikers and the zombies. Or the sheer horror of dealing with a friend who is gradually becoming a zombie.

Always wanted to see that one.

And is the Fulchi film the classic with zombie vs. shark? Because that is simply immortal!

yep. . that Fulchi one is the classic. It goes by several names, but there is a beautiful anniversary edition that came out a few years ago (including all kinds of extras, even a mini movie poster!). The film is infamous for the "door-splinter-thru-the-eye kill" but it also has the shark.

just look for the tag "we are going to EAT you!". . and you can be assured that it's the Fulchi masterpiece -- regardless of what it's called.

as for "Demons".. definately worth tracking down. . there was a beautifully done special editions of most of Argento's films done years ago on VHS -- you can still find them on eBay. "Demons II" is nowhere near as good as the first one, but it's an interesting experiment: it's set in a high security apartment building, and when a Demon comes thru the TV, the building goes into "lockdown" mode, trapping everyone inside. I'm not certain, but I believe this takes place at the same time as the first film -- just in a different part of the city.

For me it is a tie between Dawn Of The Dead (1978) and Return Of The Living Dead. Both are intense and have tons of comedy gold. Dead Alive should get props for the lawnmower versus zombies scene alone.

It feels more like a ghost story thatn a straight out zombie flick to me.

Night of the Living Dead is the best. Ballsiest ending out of all these films.

I'd also say Evil Dead and Dead Alive are great.

The little girl scene was terrifying, and the ending just left you sitting in your own fear wondering if this film's real.
