A Green Lantern/Hawkgirl/Vixen JLU questions

I watched only a handful of JLU episodes and one plotline I enjoyed was the Green Lantern/Hawkgirl/Vixen connection.

I know that John was dating Vixen even though his heart belonged to Hawkgirl with whom he apparently has a son in the future.


How did that end up?

It's left fairly open ended at the end. He's still with Vixen (if I recall right) but he and Shayera both know that they have a son in one version of the future. One of the last episode I remember involving the plotline involved John saying tha they make their own future and that nothing they've seen in one potential future time line needs to determine how things would work out for them in the here and now. So basically "If we get back together then we get back together, but there's no reason for us to force ourselves back into the relationship just because we know we had a kid in one future reality."

[spoil]In the commentary for one of the season three episodes, Bruce Timm says that they eventually get back together, and it was intended from the start that Vixen be a plot device, one more obstacle to their getting back together, but when they got into that arc, they found they liked Vixen so much that they didn't want to something that mean to her, so they left them together at the end of the series. We already know, according to the commentary, that they end up together with a child, so there was no need to force that development into the plot as shown.

whats the deal with green lantern and hawkgirl? :confused: honestly , i dont know. its funny , hawkgirl and gL, but wheres hawk man? i saw the episode that said they had a kid , but i searched online and didnt see a character that was their child .

also , in the episode where the jlu ( gl and supergirl) went to the future , bouncing boy said " i know u , your gl , father of....." and gl said " dont spoil my future..." as if bb was about to say the name of a superhero in the 31st century that was gl and hawkgirl's son. :eek:

but i really dont understand what happened to hawkman. wasnt that her man 4 like ever? weird.... i dont understand why hes not even a member anymore.... i hate when stories in the comics get switched up for tv and movies... ie web cartridges...LOL :mad:

The Hawkman/Hawkgirl/GL story was covered in Acient History, JLU season 3 episode 11.

Warhawk was the son of Hawkgirl and John in the Batman Beyond future.

The JLU version of Hawkman was different. He was basically a Hawkgirl fanboy who believed he and her were destined to be together thanks to a malfunctioning piece of Thanagarian tech.

There was also a "Hawkman" type character in the 2nd season of JL that was from Thanagar and was engaged to Hawkgirl before she left to spy on Earth. But part of his plan to fight the alien race attacking his homeland would have the side effect of wiping out Earth. So Hawkgirl ended up fighting against him because of her newfound love for Gl and the people of Earth. That "Hawkman" later died.
