I was going through some back issues, and I noticed just how uncannily similar Ramrod of the Nasty Boys is to Black Tom, in terms of appearance (black-haired full-bearded), nationality (irish), and powers (plant/wood-based).

They even have the same sort of close associate, who are themselves uncannily similar to each other: both Ruckus and Banshee are long-haired pretty boys with sound-based powers, who might even have the same hair color since that pink hair is almost certainly dyed and not natural.

In fact they seem so similar that I actually think that Black Tom and Ramrod must actually be long-lost father-and-son, and the same goes for Banshee and Ruckus!

My theory then is that when they were teenagers and still best friends, Sean and Tom attended a rock concert, U2 or something, and got together with a pair of party girls, who they each had their own one-night stands with and got pregnant, though of course they did not know about it, and when the babies were born, their mothers raised the two of them together ala MTV's B and B...

Hey, if they can do fun things with the geneaology of the Summers/Grey ( American ) and Rasputin ( Russian ) families, why can't they do the same thing with the Cassidy ( Irish ) family ?

I know this has nothing to do with the thread title, But the Cassidy family are actually from my town, they even visited it after the Phoenix Saga.

Which is kinda cool when you consider its only a small town in the west.

They spelt it wrong and made us look backwords, still, it was pretty cool.

Tom Cassidy was that in love with Maeve Rourke yet did not make a play for her even while his cousin Sean was regularly away on those long assignments?
Unlikely to the point of impossible, given his criminal tendencies!

My theory is that they got together one night when she was lonely that her husband was away, and invited him for a drinking session, and they ultimately had a drunken one night stand . They , or she, were then so guilty the next day, that they avoided each other from that point on, until the time that Maeve was killed in an IRA bombing in Belfast. What Tom did not know was that she was actually pregnant with his bastard, but she never told him, indeed she never told anyone, and she gave birth in secret in a city hospital, which is why she was in the city in the first place instead of in Cassidy Keep. The reason why they never found the baby, was that it was either given away for adoption or was taken away by somebody...sinister...!

It would give a nice symmetry to the Cassidy family tree, as both Sean and Tom would have daughters with the same woman, daughters who inherited their mutant powers...

Hehehe, I'd love to see a story that goes like this : A young mutant girl hires X-Factor to find her birth father, who would be revealed to be Tom, and there would be family soap opera with Terry, Tom, and the new girl, who I'd like to call Tammy ( Black Tam! ) . Tam could then be kidnapped by a maddened Juggernaut, who recently was forced to become Cyttorak's crazed avatar once more during World War Hulk, and who'd want to get back at Tom for killing Sammy by sacrificing Tam to magically resurrect the fish boy. Tom would discover that like Bobby, he still retained his mutation, and would go all Treebeard in a dramatic battle royale with Juggernaut. In the end, Cain would realize that he couldn't do it, and reconcile with Tom by freeing Tam, but a guilty Tom would shockingly sacrifice his own life to bring back his very own murder victim. At the funeral, a still-powered R&R ( with no more pink hair ! ) would then appear before a grieving T&T (and C), and reveal that they're taking over the ancestral clan home as direct male heirs in the line of patriarchal descent. Gamma Jenny would be their attorney and presto, Juggernaut and She-Hulk reunion !

If they could do that contrived "secret sibling" thing with Christopher and Katherine Summers, then they can do it too in this case!

good theory! but that's going to make the Ramrod/Ruckus relationship even stranger. i remember originally thinking that Ramrod was latino. boy was i embarrassed once i actually discovered his roots.
