Del Toro is talking about what comes after The Hobbit movies and has picked an interesting Marvel character to turn into a full length film....

But I wouldn't use the suit!
He lost me already. :(

yeah, no suit no sale for me. Sure, Del Toro would do a great Dr. Strange, but the Ditko suit would work for live action.

Wouldn't be Dr. Strange without the suit. Whatever happened to that Madman movie GDT was working on?
How could Guillermo improve on perfection?

If he doesn't use the costume, then just call it something else. It's not Dr. Strange without that stupid get-up.

Gnah! If that's the "suit" that everyone's referring to, I can see where GDT might want to start over with something a little less... pimptacular. Yikes!
Disclosure: I've never seen Dr. Strange in any form before this, so I have no idea what the character is about.

Either have I...but I'm guessing he has some sort of PHD, and is very peculiar.

I was really entertained by that TV Movie, and I only saw it like 6 months ago.
I'm also voting to keep the costume. Love it. I'm not averse to a re-imagining of the robes, but I'd like them to still be recognizable.

He's House MD with magic powers. Well, at least for part of his story arc.
The "suit" from the comic is this.

Of course, in real life it would look something like this.

Hey Maija, you should check out Doctor Strange: The Oath, by Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin.
I wasn't a Strange fan until I read that, but it's very, very good stuff. Marcos makes the suit look cool, too... Basically a business suit with a weird magical living cape over it.
A+ would buy again.

Yes! That the best Doc story in a good while. I did like the got rid of his footy PJ bottoms and gave him shoes.
Stay away from the JM Straczynski(SP?) "reboot" series. It messes things up and is a whole world of blah.

What about At The Mountains Of Madness? Or Tarzan? Or Madman? Or 3993? Or the Champions? Or Frankenstein?

... and Creature From the Black Lagoon. I mean, how many movies does he have lined up??? The way it's going, by the end of next year he'll be racked up to direct all movies. Period. Everyone else can just go home. Del Toro is on da job!
ATMOM he's been talking about for at least 8-10 years now.

I think he's also involved with Mnemovore and Runoff comics adaptations.

It's good news for sure. I wonder what the outcome of the Tolkien suit turned out to be...

It turned out that everyone is equally greedy and that making movies is infinitely more profitable than suing for piddlings.

Dr Strange? Well seems like a good fit. Still, keep the outfit!! Some modeifacation, sure. Yet I don't see how the cape and outfit wouldn't work on film any less than Stange's magic and whatever creatures he would be fighting.
Meanwhile, I'm bit bit disapointed in hearing he's on The Hobbit. I'm certainly interested in it, but it wasn't a film I was in any rush to see get made. Particularly in contrast to something orginal by Del Toro or some of the other ideas.

I think he could make a pretty good strange movie, and I think that he's proven that he can adapt a story into his own vision and make it great. Hopefully after the Hobbit and the other prequal he'll go onto HB3 before any other movie he has his sights set on.

I think after the hobbit GDT will have the weight to get the funding to make ATMOM how he wants to. I think I am most interested in seeing him do that because from what I've heard him say, it seems like the one he has the most passion for.
