I'll definitely be buying the more story related or group shot covers of Final Crisis. The solo ones are nice but too bland for me to represent such a big event and I did the same with the Astonishing X-Men books that did this very thing.
That is a bad-ass pic of GL. Jones and Morrison on a big event book? I'm in. After the sheer perfection of Marvel Boy, I'm in.

The Human Flame would be a lot more intimdating if he didn't look like Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force in tights.

Heh true, he looks very plain but perhaps that's his charm in its simplicity.
Interestingly enough does anyone else think that Libra is carrying around a version of the Crime Bible?

I don't buy DC Comics anymore, but Final Crisis might be something to check out. I'm glad they're doing an event book that isn't 52 weeks out of the year. The premise and artwork look nice!

Okay, I know that has nothing to do with this thread at all, and I apologize. Just a Homestar fanatic.

That's what I was thinking, too. And the oversized scales/balance symbol looks sorta like one of those huge crosses that I've seen crazed fundamentalists tote around. Maybe Libra is supposed to be like a dark messiah figure to the criminals of the DCU.

what happened to no final crisis cross-overs.JLA is going to be the only title that crosses over into Final Crisis. Makes sense given the characters in that book.

There was a loophole. Generally everytime it was mentioned that there would be no Final Crisis crossovers, it was then followed by "unless someone wants to". They are still saying that Final Crisis itself will be self contained...Presumably any tie-ins would then be "companion story;ines that wouldn't affect the main story.

The Human Flame kind of looks like Big Sir with a mustache. The costume even looks like his. In fact, before I read the caption and just saw the picture, I thought Big Sir with a mustache.

Here's the quote:
"The only time that we’ll see one crossover or a tie-in leading into Final Crisis will be an issue of Justice League of America. So we’ll have one issue of Justice League of America that comes out just prior to Final Crisis and actually takes a beat from the conclusion of Salvation Run, goes into Justice League and then ultimately into Final Crisis."

Is that a spoiler? Salvation Run ends with Libra saving all of Earth's villains?

Hmmm, I don't know. I can't really imagine The Human Flame and Libra as being serious threats to anything. They look more like C-List villains rather than threats to the multiverse. How are they going to make these guys into serious threats?

A villain's powers or resources don't make them threatening. Lex Luthor's a powerless human being and he's scary as !@#$. Morrison's going to turn these nobodies into the kind of villains that come from nothing, don't grandstand, and just wanna get the job done, and that's threatening enough.

I have a feeling this event is going to be outstanding. I'm so happy they decided to make this an event in a few monthly installments instead of something long, confusing, and frustrating. The Hal Jordan cover totally rocks as well.

Libra in his one and only appearance absorbed the powers of the Justice League and became "one with the universe" essentially elevating himself to godhood, so he should pack quite a wallop.
The Human Flame I have no idea though.

DC might be keeping mum on big name villains so as not to spoil Salvation Run. Or maybe Libra's villains are good guys:
"Well, for me, the great thing about this story is that the New Gods themselves are out of the picture. The idea is that the war between the gods has been won, and evil has won, and evil has now come to Earth to enact its revenge against every living thing. So it’s essentially good versus evil, and that’s what the story is all about."
"In previous cases where the heroes of the DCU have faced Darkseid, they’ve had the powers and the technology of the New Gods to help them…this time they’re alone against absolute overwhelming cosmic evil."
Perhaps Libra's goal is to balance the scales of good and evil. To that end, he's assembled a new Injustice Gang to take on Darkseid... which I'm sure will work marvelously.

When this was first announced, I wasn't too enthusiastic, but everything I've heard since has gotten me excited, especially the recent stuff about the Evil Gods coming to Earth, and every timeline and universe playing into it. I think I'm especially excited because it seems to be a STORY first, and a crossover second, and that will rock. Looking forward to it even more than Secret Invasion now, despite buying about 5 DC books compared to about 15 Marvel.
