View Full Version : Punisher: Forces of Nature One-Shot.... Marvel won't turn ANYTHING down will they?

Absolutely pitiful.
It's no wonder why annuals and 1-shots don't sell that much.
It's blatantly obvious that this was quickly thrown together during the commercial break of some tv show Duane was watching. And I fully believe he did just one draft and didn't proofread it once.
Question : When something sucks, does Quesada or anyone ever read it and send it back?
Answer : Punisher : Forces of Nature. Apparently there is no group within Marvel who bothers to check for suck.

I don't know if I could possibly disagree more. I thought it was a great story. The art wasn't the greatest thing ever but it's not as awful as you make it out to be. This was a well written issue though. I loved it.
Also, Quesada does not suck, man. The guy takes a lot of crap, but Marvel has been doing great and it's got him to thank for it.

Actually, no. This was not a good book.
I've come to notice a trend on this forum : You guys love everything.
If you say this is great then you have to say everything else in the world is good too.
If anyone thinks this book is sub-par (hint: this book is actually BELOW sub-par) or higher then Ultimates 3 probably has a ranking of at least 7/10.

Pretty much this book was solid Punisher fare; certainly it is much better than Ultimates 3.
Why the F#$@ was it 4.99? I flipped thru it. The art was horrendous and Pun appears in 6 panels. F that.

You just say that cuz All-Star Ultimates punched you in the nuts.

LMFAO, first things first LMAO. Sorry, you just can't be serious can you. This is a comic book forum! Everyone is critical and they certainly let people know what they like and dislike, that is the whole point of a forum! Haven't you noticed umpteen OMD and Joe Q bashing threads. Hardly worth starting a new thread about one comic, just so it can eventually boil down to you throwing cheap shots at Joe Q.

If all you got out of my thread was me throwing shots at Joe Q, hell, if you thought this thread was even conceived with Joe Q in mind, then you obviously didn't read it.

The problem is what some people think suck other people like a lot. What are you gonna do.
I though the Spider-Woman origin miniseries from a couple of years back (Bendis-Reed-Luna Brothers) was the most godawful piece of garbage I'd read in years. But some people loved the thing. I can't explain it, but that's how it goes.

So if someone has a different opinion than your own opinion they must be wrong? Talk about (pardon the pun) having a high opinion of one's own self...
Visit the Spider-Man boards, X-boards, Avengers boards and many others to see people who in fact, do not love everything. Also, congratulations on making one of the most laughable statements I've ever read here.

The only problem I see with the thread is it seems to be created to bash the title. Now if you had created it as a discussion thread and said your opinion was that it was awful that would be a different story.
Anyway, agree to disagree.

I really enjoyed it.
The problem I find with one-shots is they just wrap things up far too quickly for my liking, but I guess it couldn't a one-shot if they couldn't!
Certainly 8/10

Why was it 5 bucks?
Page count, I'm assuming.
I byrne-stole it in the store and found it to be a B-
It's not an Ennis Punisher book, so I decided to skip it.

Hmmm. Hardly any Punisher in the story. Lousy artwork. Its not the gritty Punsiher I've come to expect over the years. I mean, I read one Punisher one-shot where the POV took place inside a gangster's mouth b/c The Punisher was interrogating him by pulling teeth with pliers and scraping the raw gums bloody with some other dental equipment. (That was a great issue). That's the Punisher. That's the Punisher I know.

If this guy is the one who is taking over for Ennis, I can't say that I'd be that bothered if I dropped the book after Ennis leaves.

I'm feeling the same way. I spend a lot on comics (as we all do) and I'm not spending it on lukewarm stories. Just cancelled all of ASM for the same reason.

Erm your question stated "When something sucks, does Quesada or anyone ever read it and send it back?"
Pretty much your just name bashing at criticizing the professionalism of Marvel over one comic, not only can you justify that. You haven't even justified why you thought this issue "absolutely pitiful."
Still getting a kick out of that comment that everyone on this forum loves everything, not so much the irony that tickles me. Just the fact it's wrong.

But Marvel hasn't had their doo-doo together for a long time. Just about everything that came out in 07 wasn't worth paying real money for.
p.s. i like your avatar tho.

WWH, MCX, Capitan America sans Steve Rogers, The aftermath of civil war have all been great and kick the snot out of the distinctive competition pitiful attemps (expect for corps war).
now back to the topic of forces of nature.
I liked it.
It was Frank Mind%^&^ing the bad guys.
and isn't swierczynski taking over from Ennis?

I found the story to be entertaining and oddly funny. However, the art was a little odd (realistic? cartoony? I can't tell what it's trying to be), the title didn't need to be MAX (as it could easily have been told without the swearing and naked-chick magazine), and, probably the biggest problem, it wasn't worth the cover price. It might've been worth the standard price, though.

Haven't read it yet, but from the comment I believe it's average. Nothing special. So I think I may not continue the book if this is the new guy. Have to check the book first though...

That's also hardly a ringing endorsement. Not too many books that are worse than Fraction's absolutely dreadful PWJ.
What I wouldn't give for that book to be ending instead and Ennis staying onboard the MAX title, but oh well.

You mean Straczynski? I didn't think Ennis' successor had been announced yet, since at one time it was rumored to be the guy from HBO's Entourage who churned out that mediocre Punisher Annual, but then I never heard anything about that again (thankfully). Personally, I'd like to see Jason Aaron get the book after Ennis leaves.

The guy you are referring, Benson, is writing Moon Knight now. I think his Moon Knight is far better than Punisher annual, but I can't imagine anything look better than Ennis to be hinest. It was bad though.

Yes... Tactical Genius Frank does make for good entertainment.
And that would've been a great argument for defending this one-shot had it not been for the fact that Frank was up against wasted JUNKIES and not generals of an army or something.
I really liked Force of Nature. It was a fun read with good art. It's not meant to be one of Ennis' grim affairs, it's a bit more light-hearted. A bit similar to Swierczynski's novels (which are awesome), The Wheelman, and The Blond.
Besides... how could you not laugh at that hilarious twist ending?
